Construction work is one of the riskiest jobs as it involves machines and humans both. So, construction workers face some common risk factors that can turn out to be life-threatening. When it comes to protecting workers at a job site, personal protective equipment (PPE) is the best option. These PPE guard workers against accidents and prevents injuries. Employers should make sure that all safety measures must be followed.

Depending on the circumstances and potential hazards present, additional PPE may be required. This determination will by made by your supervisor based on the preliminary Job Hazard Analysis; EHS may also be consulted. Additional PPE may include:

•   Head and face shields when cutting, grinding, or chipping
•   Protective gloves
•   Hearing protection
•   Chemical splash goggles
•   Respiratory protection
•   Fall protection equipment when working above 6 feet
•   Specific protective clothing such as welding leathers when welding or FR clothing when working with live electric.
