✪✪✪ Stay Safe From Tonsillitis

➤➤ What Is Tonsillitis ?

☞ Tonsils, two masses of tissue at the back of throat, are involved in body's immune system. When tonsils become infected, the condition is called tonsillitis.

➤➤ Classification of Tonsillitis :

► Tonsillitis is classified into three classes-

◑ Acute tonsillitis :
These symptoms usually last 3 or 4 days but can last up to 2 weeks.

◑ Recurrent tonsillitis :
This is when people get tonsillitis several times in a year.

◑ Chronic tonsillitis :
This is when people have a long-term tonsil infection.

➤➤ Symptoms of Tonsillitis :

► The main symptoms of tonsillitis are inflamed and swollen tonsils, sometimes severe enough to make it hard to breathe through mouth. Other symptoms include:

◑ Throat pain or tenderness
◑ Fever
◑ Red tonsils
◑ A white or yellow coating on tonsils
◑ Painful blisters or ulcers on throat
◑ Headache
◑ Loss of appetite
◑ Ear pain
◑ Trouble swallowing
◑ Swollen glands in neck or jaw
◑ Fever and chills
◑ Bad breath
◑ A scratchy or muffled voice
◑ Stiff neck

➤➤ Treatment of Tonsillitis :

► According to the cause of tonsillitis , treatment varies from patient to patient ; such as - if it is caused by bacterial attack, antibiotic is recommended or if it is done by viral attack, there is still no medicine to treat it. Body itself will fight against it.

► Home remedies :

◑ Getting lots of rest.
◑ Drinking warm or very cold fluids to help with throat pain.
◑ Eating smooth foods, such as flavored gelatins, ice cream and apple sauce
◑ Using a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in room.
◑ Gargling with warm salt water.

Some over-the-counter pain relievers can be taken if pain is involved.

➤➤ Prevention of Tonsillitis :

► The best way to prevent tonsillitis is through good hygiene, including:

◑ Washing  hands often.
◑ Not sharing food, drink, utensils, or personal items like toothbrushes with anyone.
◑ Staying away from someone who has a sore throat or tonsillitis.
