"The Daily Star Campus Stars" is a show that highlights promising individuals who have excelled in their academics and extracurricular activities, alongside securing success in their professional paths. The third episode of the show took place on June 8, 2021, featuring panelists from Daffodil International University (DIU).

The online event was hosted by Shuvashish Roy, Head of Business, The Daily Star. The speakers included Dr Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, DIU, and Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director, Students' Affairs, DIU.

DIU alumnus Md Mehedi Hassan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate, Upazila Land Office, Kaunia, Rangpur, and Shabnam Mustari Lia, who is currently pursuing her B A in English from Department of English, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, DIU, were also in attendance.

DIU values the importance of entrepreneurship, as emphasized on their versatile curriculum. "Entrepreneurship is the most effective way to eradicate unemployment. Right from idea generation to commercialization, we guide our students at every step while our startup market enables them to work on their ideas at the campus," explained Dr Mohammed Masum Iqbal.

"We have life insurance policies for all students and guardians. Our entrepreneurship department organises an annual event for students to pitch their ideas, where they can receive international collaboration offers," shared Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju.

During the pandemic, all their students received fee-waivers. Their 'one student- one laptop' policy further facilitated remote learning. DIU staff members are also being trained to provide psychological support to students. "Our large campus would allow us to maintain social distancing rules. We are renovating the classrooms to incorporate necessary changes," added Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju.

DIU also promotes overall personality development and emphasises on the value of extracurricular activities. "Each department has a club and we organise various events that enhance life skills. Our teachers are very supportive and always urge us to actively participate in these competitions," shared Shabnam Mustari Lia.

The university's innovation and marketing labs intend to build young entrepreneurs who have the capability of driving powerful changes. "Today's world is changing rapidly and innovation is necessary. So, students must learn to think creatively," shared Shuvashish Roy.

DIU is also known to have a green campus. "Learning is an interactive process and our campus provides the ideal environment to learn inside and beyond classrooms," asserted Dr Mohammed Masum Iqbal.

Apart from academic learning, DIU instills soft skills like social and environmental responsibility, and problem-solving capacity in their students. "DIU moulded me into a skilled individual. We did a course on the art of effective living and after joining administration service, I attended several training sessions which focused on similar life skills," said Md Mehedi Hassan.

DIU students can also shift to foreign universities by transferring their credits. Additionally, they can attend several short course programmes at the partner universities. "At DIU, we teach students how to learn. We invite foreign faculty to boost interactions and follow a global approach in the institution," concluded Dr Mohammed Masum Iqbal.
