The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday introduced two new internet packages in a bid to ensure uninterrupted and hassle-free internet use.

The new additions — unlimited data package and uninterrupted data package — will add to the already existing 95 internet packages offered by telecom operators of the country.

Termed as "unlimited", the first data pack, however, has a duration of 365 days, while the uninterrupted package's duration is 30 days.
Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabber inaugurated the packages on Thursday at the BTRC auditorium in the capital.

According to BTRC officials, the new monthly package has been designed to deliver uninterrupted internet service throughout the month. However, in practice, it comes with a daily usage limit. A subscriber will be able to avail up to 1-2GB of internet a day depending on the package.

In a brief presentation on the services, Brig Gen Md Nasim Parvez, director general (Systems and Services) of BTRC, said under these services, mobile operators won't be allowed to offer bundle package.

Under the unlimited package, Grameenphone is offering 15GB data at Tk1099 and 5GB data at Tk499; Robi 10GB at Tk319, Banglalink 5GB at Tk306; and Teletalk 26GB at Tk309 and 6GB at Tk127.
For uninterrupted service, Grameenphone is offering two 30-day packages. Both packages come with daily usage limits.
One is a monthly Tk399 pack with up to 1GB daily usage and the other is a Tk649 pack with up to 2GB daily usage.
