Reason for Bitumen Paint in Footings

(1/1)

Abu Hasan:
Bitumen paint is often applied to footings for several reasons:

1. **Waterproofing**: It creates a waterproof barrier that prevents moisture from seeping into the concrete, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the structure.

2. **Protection Against Chemicals**: Bitumen paint provides resistance to various chemicals and salts present in the soil, which can otherwise cause damage to the concrete over time.

3. **Corrosion Resistance**: It protects any embedded metal reinforcements in the footings from corrosion.

4. **Durability**: Bitumen paint enhances the longevity of the footings by providing an additional layer of protection against environmental factors.

5. **Preventing Dampness**: It helps prevent dampness from rising through the concrete into the structure above, which is essential for maintaining a dry and healthy indoor environment.
