Women must adopt a prevention is better than cure perspective and use relaxation techniques and easy lifestyle tips, rather than reaching for antidepressants or pain-killers to treat problems such as breast pain, menstrual cramps and thrush. Here are some time-honored tips:-

Ø GENTLE EXERCISE SUCH AS WALKING, WILL EASE THE EMOTIONAL AS WELL AS THE PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS OF PMS. IF YOU SUFFER FROM ACHES AND PAINS IN THE DAYS BEFORE DURING THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND REST INSTEAD.

Ø USE 3-5 DROPS ESSENTIAL OIL OF GERANIUM IN AN OIL BURNER, OR ADD IT TO WARM BATHWATER. IT IS SAID TO BALANCE EMOTIONS – USEFULFOR COPING WITH MOODINESS.

Ø GENTLY MASSAGE YOUR ABDOMEN, LOWER BACK AND THIGHS WITH A BLEND OF 4 DROPS CLARY SAGE ESSENTIAL OIL IN 1 TABLESPOON VEGETABLE OIL.

Ø IN CASE OF BREAST PAIN, TRY TO RELIEVE THE TENDERNESS TRIGGERED BY HORMONAL CHANGES WITHOUT RESORTINGTO PAIN-KILLERS. TRY TO SELF-MASSAGE. USE PLAIN VEGETABLE OIL AND ROTATE YOUR FINGER TIPS ALONG THE SKIN IN COIN-SIZE CIRCLES. FINISH BY GENTLY PRESSING THE BREASTS IN, THEN UP, WITH YOUR PALMS.
