Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Influential Power
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:39:59 PM »

It's amazing how much influence and power you have, or can be given. Some of this power, however, may be positive, or more harmful than you realize.

A Reminder
I was reminded of influential power just the other day when I jokingly remarked to a colleague that all they seemed to do throughout the day was eat.

The response from my colleague, "You are going to give me a complex", reawakened my thinking that some of us can negatively influence people without even being aware that we are doing so.

Another Example
Take a simple facial expression, a smile, and a one-word greeting, 'hello'.

It is astounding how much impact this simple greeting can have on a work colleague or friend, or to a total stranger when you pass them on the street. A simple smile and an hello can do wonders for someone's spirit who may be a little down at the moment, feeling a bit unappreciated, or feeling all alone with their own issues or concerns.

Three Points
First, is that you cannot influence others unless they give you the power to do so because we all have a choice.

Second, we can choose to be influenced or affected by others or their actions, or we can choose not to. Just like you can lead a horse to water, you cannot make it drink unless it wants to.

And, third, some of what we may consider to be our most innocent actions or lack of actions can help or hinder.

A Commodity
Influence is a valuable commodity and one that should not be squandered or abused. Unfortunately, some people are very vulnerable at certain times in their lives and can be negatively influenced by those who actually know that they are using their vulnerability against them.

They openly choose to verbally lead them down a path that can eventually bring them harm. In these cases, the person is so psychologically weak that they do not have a choice.

Be Aware . . .
of what you say and how you act. You may be affecting more people than you could imagine. Influential power we all have it, use your positively!

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Self-Confidence: Believe In Yourself
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:39:18 PM »

"When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do."
Charles M. Schwab

As a child, we are not limited by preconceptions. Children attempt to do what they want without being burdened by the concept of failure.

Adults tend to suppress their imagination, and are too quick to give up their dreams. Don't let the child in you disappear - imagine, dream, and believe in yourself. With determination and belief, you will be surprised at what you accomplish.

"When you develop yourself to the point where your belief in yourself is so strong that you know you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, your future will be unlimited."
Brian Tracy

Imagine what you could accomplish if there was no such thing as failure. Have you ever met someone who succeeds no matter what they attempt? These people use their imagination; they don't let failure stop them. They keep moving forward learning as they go, full of determination on their way to reach success.
"An invincible determination can accomplish almost anything and in this lies the great distinction between great men and little men."
Dr. Thomas Fuller

Your accomplishments will give you satisfaction and enhance your self confidence. A person with a strong sense of self-confidence is happier with their life because they believe in themselves!

There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.
Henry Ford

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Responsibility for Happiness
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:38:42 PM »

Don't expect other people to make you happy. Happiness is your responsibility. If you depend to wait for other people to make you happy you will be disaappointed.

It Is Up To You
It is you and only you who determine your own feelings each and every day. Some people have a tendency to blame other people for the way they are feeling.

Other people are not responsible for your feelings, you are - you own them, you control them.

Our Attitude
It is true that there are those who give us joy when we are in their company. We are happy when we are around them. But it is not the person but our own attitude towards them that makes us happy.

It is important, however, to realize that it is not the other person who gives us feelings of happiness.

Instead, it is how we view and think about them - it is our own thoughts that we control that leads to the feeling of happiness.

When we cannot find feelings of happiness within, it is foolhardy to think that we can seek it elsewhere.

On The Other Hand
Some people get caught in the trap of trying to satisfy everyone else and end up, in return, becoming very unhappy themselves.

Trying to make other people happy is akin to doing your child's homework for them and then expecting them to pass the exam. You can help them, share your knowledge and experience, but they are the ones who have to study and retain; you cannot do it for them.

The same principle applies to happiness - you're responsible for your own happiness.

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Choices - We All Make Them
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:38:06 PM »

Choices - We all make them everyday. Some are good, and some are not so good. You can surrender your destiny to the desires of others, or you can make your own. The point is that we can make choices that help us to move forward through adversity, or we may make choices that assist others to move beyond or through some of life's issues.

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice;
it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." William Jennings Bryan

Everyone Has A Choice
Choices are within everyone's command. No one has to do, or is obligated to live their lives as others live. On the other hand, inevitably at some point in our lives, we witness, first-hand, choices that other people, friends, family members or colleagues make that we can clearly see are leading them down a slippery slope to either immediate devastating consequences, or a future that can be potentially harmful.

You Cannot Do It For Them
As caring people, we probably have all made efforts to try and assist other individuals to change or alter a choice so they won't experience what we feel will be negative reactions, rejection, or, worse still, criminal prosecutions. While there is nothing inherently wrong or misguided about our good intentions, the ultimate choice people make is entirely up to them. We can't live other people's lives for them; we don't want to put ourselves in any position that appears or demonstrates that we own their problems or own their choices. These people own their own lives; they make the choices, good or bad.

"Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anyone else expects of you.
Never excuse yourself."
Henry Ward Beecher

Only If Asked
Choices. We make hundreds of choices in our lives. Other people make hundreds of choices. We might wish and hope that we can change other peoples' choices so they can avoid potential problems be that drug abuse, alcohol, relationships, parenting and on and on. But, we cannot make choices for others - what we can strive to do is offer constructive opinions or suggestions, when asked, or referrals to professionals who can assist in one's decision-making. Be inspired bythe words of W. Clement Stone, they may help you, or may help others keep moving forward through the never-ending maze of choices:

"You always do what you want to do. This is true with every act. You may say that you had to do something, or that you were forced to, but actually, whatever you do, you do by choice. Only you have the power to choose for yourself."

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Busy but No Accomplishments
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:37:22 PM »

Do you ever feel like you have been busy all week but have not accomplished anything?

If you had to report on all your accomplishments for the week, would it make a difference?

Reporting Makes A Difference
It is amazing when we have to report what we've accomplished. We actually get done what needs to get done. But, if there is no reporting requirement then we can fill up a week with busy things yet never really accomplish anything. Why? Because, we have no focus.

I remember when I worked for my previous employer. Each quarter we had to report on what we accomplished in relation to our targets. You can be sure there was focus on these targets as I knew each quarter I had to comment on what we had achieved.

Now that I am working for myself, there is no one to report to. So it is very easy to be busy but accomplish very little. An example of this is our other website. I had no newsletter that had to be done weekly. I had no updates to post, so I worked away on the website, but with very little focus. I was getting frustrated as I felt I was investing a lot of time and seeing no progress.

So, I developed a list and each week if I do nothing else I make sure I complete the items on the list. I also put up a "What's New" section, each week. So now I am reporting to my readers. If I do nothing then the page would be blank. Not a good incentive for readers to come back and visit our site.

My Point
My point in sharing my experiences with you is that your time is valuable. Your time once gone can never be gained again. And, while you can be busy, what are you accomplishing? Are you moving towards the goals in your life? Can you see the benefits of your work. And, most importantly are you focused. Are you doing the right things, or are you just doing things?

Once The Day Is Gone
I recently found a quote card that I previously had hanging in my office. It says, "What I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it." Reading this quote reminded me how important it is to be focused and use my time wisely. Once a day is gone, you can never get it back!

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Many Blessings
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:36:42 PM »

"Reflect on your present blessings
of which every man has many,
not on your past misfortunes,
of which all men have some."
Charles Dickens

We all have many blessings.

If you made a list of all the things you could be thankful for, the list would undoubtedly be longer than your misfortunes.

Make A Move Forward
Accept whatever your misfortune is and move on.

There are some things over which you have no control, and to dwell on them serves no useful purpose. Adopting the "poor me" attitude gives no promise and offers no gain.

Rocks On The Road
Some people believe that they are owed a better life, or a better job or a bigger house. This kind of thinking puts you in a class of people who only spend their time wishing and not doing. Every one of us could simply sit around and complain about everything we don't have, or what we cannot do because we do not have the money to do these things. But, that will not serve any purpose except to create thoughts that keep us bound to have nothing or be nothing. No one succeeds without hardships, without work, without taking risks or without taking action.

Not An Issue At All
One thing that I have observed over and over again is a testament to hard work displayed by those people who have immigrated with barely the clothes on their back but have gone on to own their own homes and have provided for their children so they can go on to university or college. We do not have to start with money in our pocket in order to be successful. It is much more important to start with the right attitude

Do Not Complain
A lot of the things we take for granted would be considered a blessing by someone in less fortunate circumstances. Take our health care system, for example. It is only a dream for millions of other people in the world, yet it's something we take for granted. When you think about life, think first about the blessings you have. Don't focus on misfortunes, for they are but a faint shadow.

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / You Can Make A Difference!!!
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:35:58 PM »

Early One Evening . . .
Early one evening a man was walking along a beach when he saw a boy picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. The man asked the boy why he was doing this. The boy explained the starfish would die if left to the morning. The man asked the boy, "What difference will your efforts make when there are thousands of starfish on the beach?" The boy stopped and looked at the starfish he was holding and said, "It will make a difference to this one."

To Make A Difference
The above story reveals that you do not have to influence the world, or a country, or a state or province, or city, or a town, or even a neighbourhood. It means, instead, that you can influence one person at a time over time. Each person you can positively influence can also influence others as they go through life and soon you have an avalanche. Each person you influence positively also has the ability to encourage and influence another person, and that other person can also positively influence on other person. As you can see, you only have to make a difference one person at a time to make a huge impact. It all depends on what your attitude is in making a difference.

Wisdom Said By Edward Everett Hale
"I am only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
but still I can do something;
and because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do something I can do."

There are a countless number of opportunities where we can make a difference every day.

At times, however, we do not take action because we think we can only do a little and it won't make a difference. However, the story contains wisdom that reminds us that even if we can only do a little, we can make a difference. It is all in your own attitude!

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / A riddle

A riddle for you:
What can't money buy? Once it is gone you can't reclaim it.
You have to use it now. We all receive the same amount each day.

The answer:
Time

Wisdom of Arnold Bennett
Be inspired by theses words written by Arnold Bennett , "You wake up in the morning and lo! Your purse is magically filled with twenty-four hours of the unmanufactured tissue of the universe of your life. It is yours. It is the most precious of your possessions. No one can take it from you. It is unstealable. And no one receives either more or less than you receive." How often do you hear yourself say, I should have done that yesterday. Or, tomorrow I will do that. And, you end up thinking about the time you had yesterday, and the time you have tomorrow.

Something To Think About
As we awake each day, we should consider carefully how we will use the time we have today. What are the things you want to accomplish? At the end of each day we should be able to look back on the day and say, this is what I accomplished today. What is your most valued of possessions? Do you consider "time" as a valued possession? Some people live their lives with no regard for time. And sadly before they know it their time is running out. Time truly is a valued possession, you can't buy it, you can't reclaim it once it is gone, and you have to use it now.

An Inspiring Poem
I found a poem written by Pearl Phillips that for me reinforces the thoughts of the time we had yesterday, the time we have tomorrow, and the time we have today.

Three Days,
by Pearl Phillips

Yesterday. . . Like mintage spent, is past recall;
Its echo dimmed beyond time's wall.
Tomorrow. . . It never promised earthly man,
Nor does it often fit a plan.
Today. . . Is gold that covers hills and dell
And rich are they who use it well.

You Have Control
One thing you have to realize and accept right up front is that time is not your enemy, you are. You have control over what you do with your time and what not to do. But, I also know that sometimes you may be in a relationship and therefore there are two to consider. In this regard, time is something that has to be shared and that sharing also means that it is easier to use time effectively if you both cooperate in a complete way so that both can do chores together. By doing what is necessary in a completely shared way, time is released so that you both have more time to do what you really would rather do.

An Example
Here is an example. Let us assume that household chores are taking up your time including cooking but one partner does neither. If this is the case, you need to ask for assistance in preparing meals so that they can be done more quickly. In the case of household chores, there are things that both can do at the same time so that these chores are done quickly as well. It takes cooperation but it also takes compromise because this becomes a two-way street. If there are yard chores to do, then the other should pitch in to help as well.

Time is something to be cherished and with this comes a choice to do what you can in a certain block of time. For example, let us go back to simple household chores. When you set a certain amount of time to do these chores, like one hour, use only one hour and then stop. Do what you can in that one hour and then decide what to do with the next hour. In this way, you will use only what you set for a task and then move on to something else that requires dedicated time.

Reflect
So as you begin each day this week, reflect on the words of Mr. Bennet and the words of Ms. Phillips. Use your time well each and every day. Time is ticking away.

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Answers on Happiness
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:34:18 PM »

The way we perceive our problems - perceive being the key word -, and the importance we give to them, determines how we will deal with them and determines our happiness. Why?

Because the world is a reflection of our mind. We can see a world full of problems; we can focus on the negative and only see what is wrong.

What Do You Concentrate On
I once read a story about a beautiful Christmas tree which had over 12,000 lights on it. The tree was amazing. But, there was one light that was out. So do you focus on the 11,999 lights that are sparkling in the night or do you focus on the one light that is out.

On the other hand we can see a world filled with challenges with the realization we have the capacity to overcome them. To make this point read the wisdom of Jim Rohn, "To solve any problem, here are three questions to ask yourself: First, what could I do? Second, what could I read? And third, who could I ask?"

Can You See A Solution?
We can let our problems depress us, or we can accept life's challenges and deal with them as they occur. We can turn our focus to looking for the positive in the problem, and, there is a positive to every problem, sometimes you just have to stop and look for it. Richard Bach once said, "Every problem has a gift for you in its hands."

We have the ability to determine our happiness hour-by-hour and day-by-day, through our thoughts and actions. We make that choice every morning when we get out of bed. We can choose to look forward to the day, or we can choose to moan and complain. It's your choice!

To Give Is One Key
There is one thing for sure in this life. It is that you cannot give your happiness responsibility to someone else no matter what you believe. It is your responsibility and yours alone. To make a person happy is more a matter of what you do with your life than what you receive from life. Happiness is more a matter of inner satisfaction and the ability to look beyond your own needs whether that is fancy things, or the latest technological devices for the home.

Look Inside For Clues
Happiness is a need to put yourself in front of people you care about and let them know it by what you say and do not by what they can do for you. It is much like asking a baby to walk when they are only ready to crawl. Their ability to walk is within and not what someone else demands.

Some fantastic marketers would have us believe that by buying their products we will be much happier. The cosmetic market is one area that comes to mind where companies sell their products, especially to women, by telling them how much more beautiful they will look and therefore how much happier they will be with their appearance. It is not what we look like, smell like, talk like, or what we own that creates happiness. It is the opposite. It is within each of us to develop a level of happiness by what we stand for, what we call ethics of a personal nature, or how we see and help our children develop.

Do Not Pass On Life
Do not let anyone or anything outside of your own control tell you or suggest to you what will make you happy. That decision of what is happiness is up to you and you alone to create and cherish.

Jack Brown's quote summarizes this thought well, "Happiness is not the absence of problems; but the ability to deal with them."

So if you think you are unhappy because of your problems, think again.

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / One Secret of Success
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:33:32 PM »
In studying successful people, you will find that many of them had an abundance of ideas that did not work. Yet, they kept going and didn't get discouraged by unsuccessful attempts.

After many attempts, in some cases, they found one idea that did work, and that one idea led them to their ultimate success.

Words of Charles Kettering
Consider the wisdom said by Charles F. Kettering, "Don't be afraid to stumble. Any inventor will tell you that you don't follow a plan far before you strike a snag. If, out of 100 ideas you get one that works, it's enough."

Finding that one idea requires an intense desire. Intense desire also empowers you to discover hidden talents.

Not Afraid of Failure
Successful people are not afraid to confront failure when their first idea fails. They do not quit because they know to do so would forever rob them of discovering that one idea that could work.

Elbert Hubbard once said, "There is no failure except in no longer trying."

One of the secrets of success: do not be discouraged by failure.

Others Words
Many famous people have written about success and the secrets of it. Consider the following wisdom:

Pamela J. Conrad, in her book Balancing Home & Career states, "Many successful individuals claim you can be anything you want to be; have anything you want and do anything you choose; providing you set some goals and prioritize the necessary steps to achieve them."

William Arthur Ward has expressed many thoughts that we feel contain motivation to be successful, "Wise is the person who profits from the mistakes of the past, recognizes the opportunities of the present, and anticipates the challenges of the future."

And Robert Schuller wrote The Peak to Peek Principle, in which he talks about possiblities, "Every problem is a potential opportunity. You can draw great dividends from your deepest difficulties if you understand the possibility-thinking perspective on life."

It's All Up To You!
All of these people are talking about our attitude - how we see failure, how we look at challenges, how we set goals - so in the end it is a combination of things not just one thing that will contribute to our success!

How many times have you thought, "It doesn't get any better than this!" How many times have you actually said to someone, "It doesn't get any better than this!"

Make a conscious decision to use this thought as many times a week or a day as you can. Don't wait for a major accomplishment in your life to verbalize this thought. See how many times you can express it in your day-to-day living.

Everyday Things
This thought can come from the simple things in life. It doesn't have to be a major event. If we change our attitude to one where the simple things are ones we cherish we will be much happier. Simple things like:
- Enjoying lunch with a friend
- Walking with that special someone in your life
- A child's hug
- Someone who thanks you for helping them
- Reading a good book
- Watching a sunrise or sunset
- Watching birds come to a feeder
- Watching children laugh and play
- Waking up in the morning and feeling well
An Attitude Change
When I first heard this expression, I started using it at every opportunity I could. It made me appreciate all the little things that happen in my everyday life that made me happy. Things that previously I may have just taken for granted. It was amazing how my attitude changed to one that recognized more of the blessings in my life.

"Happiness consists more in small conveniences of pleasures
that occur every day,
than in great pieces of good fortune
that happen but seldom to a man on the course of his life."
Benjamin Franklin

Life is full of nuances and bumps, and slides and hills. There is always a challenge to meet, a mountain to climb, a river to cross but there is also the beauty of the moment, the peace of a babbling brook, the quiet solitude of sitting alone with nature, and the comfort found in friendship.

Another Strategy
One strategy that embellishes your total being from that of having negative thoughts to one where positive thinking prevails is to use a technique you have probably heard of before but one that has been proven to actually form a great habit. This mechanism is that of journaling. Here is how it works.

Start off each day by simply writing down one thing you are thankful for. This entry into your journal could be that you are thankful that you have a job that supports your ability to feed yourself and your family. The next day, your entry records another thing you are grateful for. Each time you write down something you are grateful for, you are signaling to your mind things that are positive, things that allow your mind to start focusing on the good not the negative.

Keep making journal entries every day for twenty-one days. In some cases, this record uses three entries per day. The point here is that the more things you write per day, the more your mind will move towards looking for the positive and thus categorically relegating the negatives to the back of your mind. By the end of twenty-one days, you will most likely find that your mind has been trained to now look towards everything that is good and positive and thus not focus on anything negative or pessimistic.

This procedure of positive journaling has been used in corporations to change the outlook and positive attributes of many of its employees. Do not dismiss the power of this technique thinking that it is just to common or ordinary practice that cannot work. The opposite is true for this simple but powerful strategy.

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Facing Challenges
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:31:45 PM »
By not directly facing issues that are bothering us, we are creating internal road blocks. Challenges that can stop us from achieving success in life.

We cannot change what has happened, but by facing it we can more easily accept it. All too often, we let little things upset us

Most things in life are of little consequence when you look at the big picture. Put these situations in perspective. Do they really matter? Is it worth your time and energy to be upset over them? Is there action you can take to move beyond the challenge? Read the story of my great grandmother who in my eyes was a role model for the type of person I want to be like.

My great grandmother was widowed at a very early age and left to raise four children by herself during World War I. She could have felt sorry for herself. Instead, she got a job and held tight to the conviction that she would raise her children and give them all she could.

Later in her life, she had both her legs amputated, but that didn't stop her either! She lived to be 105 years old. She was an amazing woman; a woman who had more than her share of challenges.

Here is a woman who had her share of personal roadblocks, however, she faced the issues and moved beyond them.
Consider the wisdom about challenges from these people:
"There are no great people in this world, only great challenges which ordinary people rise to meet." William Frederick Halsey, Jr.

"Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict." William Ellery Channing

"I'd rather be a could - be if I cannot be an are; because a could - be is a maybe who is reaching for a star, I'd rather be a has - been than a might - have - been, by far; for a might have - been has never been, but a has was once an are." Milton Berle

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Focus
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:31:09 PM »
To have a goal is like having a road map. It shows you where to go, and where not to go. It provides a focus that otherwise might see you doing things that contribute nothing to your end goal.

Would you begin a trip to an unknown city without first looking at a map? Probably not.

Amazingly though, many people conduct their lives without any personal road map to success. Goals are like a map. They help us determine where we want to end up, and give us personal direction on which to focus our energy.

Once you decide what it is you want, break down each step you need to take and start taking action to achieve it. This "action" is the commitment on your part.

And, once you are committed to a goal, really committed, problems are short term. As you re-evaluate your progress towards your goal you will find that you can change some of the action plans to counter any challenges you are facing.

With your entire "focus" on your goal, you will reach levels of achievement that you never thought possible.

Without goals, you will end up going nowhere, or, you will end up following someone else's map!

Never lose focus on your end goal. Develop your map today - set your goals and focus!

More wisdom about being focused:
"The sun's energy warms the world. But when you focus it through a magnifying glass it can start a fire. Focus is so powerful!" Alan Pariser

"Success demands singleness of purpose." Vince Lombardi

"Our thoughts create our reality- where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go." Peter McWilliams

"The greatest thing in the world is not so much where we are, but in what direction we are moving." Oliver Wendell Holmes

"One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular." Anthony Robbins

Common Forum/Request/Suggestions / Everything Going Against You
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:03:05 PM »

"When everything seems to be going against you,
remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it."
Henry Ford

When everything is going along smoothly, you feel like nothing can stop you.

The true test of success comes when you run up against challenges, or people who put roadblocks in your path. How do you handle them?

Don't let setbacks get you down. Studying successful people will show you that they did not attain their success without first overcoming challenges.

When Beethoven was 26 years old, he started experiencing hearing problems, which later became total deafness. Yet, Beethoven went on to compose some of his greatest works after his hearing loss. He had a strong passion for music, and even though everything seemed to be going against him, he showed tremendous determination to overcome his challenge and fulfil his desire to compose.

The best thing to add a continuing spark to your life is to really find what really excites you, what is your greatest passion and it need not be something that you already know how to do, or are currently interested in. There are many things that you could do and it is only a matter of deciding, making an informed choice and then go after it as if your life depended on it. Truth be told, it is a matter of life because without a passion, you will simply move through life with a weight on your shoulders and a boulder in your pocket constantly dragging you down further and further.

More wisdom to consider:
"Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields to stern resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind." Leonardo da Vinci

"The things you want are always possible; it is just that the way to get them is not always apparent. The only real obstacle in your path to a fulfilling life is you, and that can be a considerable obstacle because you carry the baggage of insecurities and past experience." Les Brown

"Nothing is given to man on earth - struggle is built into the nature of life, and conflict is possible - the hero is the man who lets no obstacle prevent him from pursuing the values he has chosen."
Andrew Bernstein

End each thing we learn does not have to be a magnificent revelation but only something that sticks with you over time. Here are just a few things you may have learned over time:
- Most things in life that one worries about never happen.
- Great achievements are not always accomplished by the most educated but the most determined.
- Problems are the greatest reflection of possibilities to be and that failures are the best teachers in the world.
- To be nice, to be kind, to be considerate doesn't cost you a penny and what you give is worth more than money can buy.
- You can't have what you can't see, and you can't see what you can't dream about.

If we kept a journal and each year on our birthday we wrote the most significant thing that occurred in our life, and what we learned from this, then we would have a legacy to pass on to our children. Think of your last five years, what one thing did you learn that you would share with someone that you love.

What I Have Learned
2007 - I've learned that life is precious and we never know if tomorrow will come. It is critical that we live each day to the fullest.
2006 - I've learned that sometimes you need to ask for help, that you can't do it all.
2005 - I've learned that sometimes no matter how much you help someone, if they don't want tochange or learn, you can't change them, you can only change yourself.
2004 - I've learned to appreciate the changing of the seasons; sometimes we get so busy in life that we don't appreciate the simple things in life.
2003 - I've learned that dreams can come true. If you stick to your goals, don't get discouraged, persevere and persist when faced with roadblocks.
