Journalism & Mass Communication / Yellow Journalism
« on: April 09, 2012, 09:59:41 AM »
Journalism is always considered to be the safeguard of democracy and protector of the deprived people. But the term yellow journalism can jeopardize all the achievement of true journalism. It is a matter of great concern that to catch the leading position in the world of journalism some giant News channel & Newspaper publish fictitious sometime biased news and even sometimes hack the privacy of common people. The satellite channel Sky News (Britain) owned by Rupert Murdoch has second time authorized its journalists to hack in public mail and other personal document. Though its a potentially abashing revelation but Sky News is saying that they are doing this to protect human rights. To support their cause the put some examples like buying a Uzi sub-machine gun from black market and entering into a restricted area in Heathrow airport by its journalists to show how easily illegal weapon can be bought in UK or how poor the security system is. But its certainly a matter of argument whether it is legitimate to violate a rule to show the weakness of a rule.

Interesting one.

Immortality has been fascinating human being from the very first death of human. People throughout the course of time tried in various ways to gain immortality or at least to increases his life span. Its no wonder that scientists from ancient time to the present have involved themselves in this kind of research. No doubt that science has overcome many diseases that caused death in some few days back but the key to prolonged life or immortality is till unobtainable. Recently scientists at Glasgow University say they have found a key genetic indicator of how long an individual will live. They say the lengths of tiny pieces of DNA called telomeres indicate whether a young creature is likely to live long into old age.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telomere (For some information about telomere)

Now scientist are trying to find why the length of telomere usually varies? Is it possible to stretch them to get prolonged life?
Their ans might bring a breakthrough in our life span.

Its a long list of work......... :) but ya necessary one...

Encouraging speeches..... But well there are no direct speech for solution but the problems are clear.

Proper law enforcement is necessary to reduce industrial pollutants. Govt. must to take initiatives so each plant has its own ETP plant. But yes Govt. can do nothing if common people are not aware about it.

Nice post..... But i think now a days population is no longer treated as a problem rather resource. Uncontrolled and unnecessary use of energy might be the reason of these pollution.

E waste management is the necessity of time time. Its hard but true that Bangladesh doesnt even have proper waste management system for daily waste while we are talking about E waste. But Govt. should look to it from a different view. These waste are usually poisonous and recycling of these things can be highly beneficial.

Electronic waste describes discarded electrical or electronic devices. With the rapid increase in the use of electrical commodities the amount of electronic waste is increasing tremendously. Due to the ignorance and lacking of knowledge about the threat possess by these waste people used to treat these waste like the normal kitchen waste. But E waste may contain contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants which can cause severe health hazard. So we should be careful about throwing those waste like batteries, cell phone, calculator etc here and there.

Pharmacy / Re: Kidney The ultimate filter

The glomerular barrier is consist of four different layer.
1. Podocytes
2. Glomerular Basement membrane(GBM)
3. Fenestrated endothelial cell
4. Endothelial surface layer.
All the layer has its own effect on size selectivity. It was assumed that the GBM has the main effect on charge selectivity but recent invivo study showed that the endothelium layer has the main effect on charge selectivity.

Pharmacy / Kidney The ultimate filter

What kidnies do in our body? A very simple answer is that they filter our blood. But if one ask how they do that? Then the answer is far too complicated that even modern science is yet arguing to to find a solution. The normal process of sieveing is basically size dependent that is larger size particle will stay in the retentate and the smaller paritcle will be in the filtrate. But for kidney there are two more imortant factors. Particle charge and particle configuration. It was found that the glomerular(Filtering unit of kidney) barrier is negatively charged and hence it resist the particle of negative charge to pass through it. Particle shape also effects the the sieveing.
