Post by: anam on January 17, 2013, 04:19:44 PM
Dear Attendees,

Both for the teachers and the students, it is a must to sit for GMAT/GRE exam for higher education. This post is created in a view to discussing mathematical problems and related queries. I expect everyone's spontaneous participation and brain-storming.

good one indeed to remember the trigonometric formulation. From my point of view, such theorems will be helpful in GRE exam instead of GMAT. Truly speaking, such funny but informative ways help exam candidates memorize things in an effective way.

Column A                                       Column B
   -3^4                                         (-3)^4

A)  Column A’s quantity is greater.

B)  Column B’s quantity is greater.

C)  The quantities are the same.

D)  The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

Please give the answer:

Column A results in -81 and Column 2 results in 81. Thus B is the answer as the column B is greater.

x and y are integers: lxl=y

Column A        Column B
x                         y

A)  Column A’s quantity is greater.

B)  Column B’s quantity is greater.

C)  The quantities are the same.

D)  The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.

well, here i must say E. The absolute value of X indicates that X could be both positive and negative. Thus it cannot be determined whether X or Y is larger.

Sorry, Hadi sir, here x can accept any integer (positive and negative), but y take only positive value.
So elements of x is greater than y.
So answer is A.

Ans is C
93% of 25=23.25
98% of 20=19.6
Total=42.85 is present out of 45
So 95.222 is answer

Dear Tree

I know this is very hard for the student. But you have to know that it is GRE/GMAT section. So you have to give more concentration to solve the problem.

I want to give thanks to you for interest. Go ahead. If you face more problem then you can come to my room (Faculty 2, Prince Plaza). I think it would help you for your improvement.

Best Regards
Sayedul Anam

Being a conscientious driver, Suzy stayed at or below the speed limit while traveling down the interstate.  Overall, she went an average rate of 65 mph and it took her 10 hours to complete her journey.  If she traveled for 6 of her 10 hours at 70 mph, what constant speed did she go for the remaining 4 hours to obtain the overall 65 mph average?

A)  65 mph

B)  60 mph

C)  57.5 mph

D)  59.5 mph

E)  62.5 mph

B. (-3)^4 is +ve but -3^4 is -ve

modulus of x = y. Regardless of x, y is positive. But when x is -ve, y> x. therefore D

well, during GMAT and GRE exams, we cannot use Calculator. and to get rid of this shortcoming, we must learn some shortcut techniques. from my point of view learning the multiple numbers from 1 to 30 has no alternative.

okay... lemme start with Geometrical ones... do we remember the theorems that we were taught in our school years? let's get a brief...

1. Straight line indicates 180 degree. Any transversal intersecting creates two angles and summation of which equals 180 degree

can anyone tell the 2nd theorem?
