Hello Dear Students

Department of English is planning to bring out the Wall Magazine of summer, 2010 very soon. Interested students are invited to submit their write-ups within 30th June, 2010.You can send your write-ups through e-mail. You can also submit your hard copies to the supervisor. You are encouraged to write in both Bengali and English. Selected Bengali write-ups will be translated this time.Some of the areas of writing are given below for your convenience:
Poem,Feature,Experience,Short-Story,Book-Review,Movie Review etc.

THE WRITER OF THE BEST WRITE-UP WILL BE AWARDED.

It is a good opportunity to bring forward one's insight. I strongly believe that we have such students who have the enthusiasm and talent to right in different subject matters. The Wall-Magazine is provided equal opportunities for the department of English to publish students' writing.

I hope the students will response and participate more than any previous time. We have a common pattern that is to make something 'beauty'. Let participate and make beauty. I believe 'kinetic beauty' and joy stay together, let us enjoy the work.

The department is getting broader day by day. I hope the potency, vigour and intellects of the department are also thriving.

Writing is a kind of art, that reflects the psychology, conscience and clairvoyance of the writer.

I wish, this time the Wall Magazine will get a great deal of tender writers/poets.

Thanks for contributing a title for our next issue.I also wanted to pick new titles for new issues but in previous issue,the students fixed a title 'Message' for it.But I think we can talk about it again and can avoid a fixed title.The title you proposed 'Ripple' is really excellent.

Thank you for reckoning me.
 
Methinks, name Ripples is a good choice for our next Wall Magazine. At least, there is a splash of literary flavour in it. As we are going through a changing groove (of naming, like, Poetry Fair or Message), we have the authority to follow the trend (of changing names). You can give some options & launch a voting system among the students. (if you think that a better name can be generated).

The Name,     it is really a matter of discussion. Please allow me to take the opportunity here to share a little history of the name of our Wall-Magazine.



We began from the " Poetry Fair ", then we changed it due to some real factors in the second issue. While we were working for the third issue we had tried to establish a name which will be a tradition, we also concentrated on the content of that. "Message", the name was selected for the second issue, in the third esteemed time we took the same name to make a tradition.


Now it is fourth issue;;;;;;;;;;;;;

I am very happy to be a part for the consecutive fourth endeavour. It is a matter of achievement that we are discussing "Message" here in the forum.

Now it is your turn to decide either we will go for establishing a tradition or for anew. I hope you will response me.

I have got some excellent poems and discovered that some of the students are gradually becoming prolific writers due to their participation in 'Message'.I have also got two students who are going to write on making movie and reviewing 'Hindi Serials'-(do they have any influence on our life and culture?Is it positive or not).I have also assigned some students to write allegorical stories.The best one will be published in the Wall-Magazine.Some students are also writing on 'Developing Techniques on Language Teaching'...
In short,I hope this time again 'Message'is going to address multi-dimentional topics...

This is very becoming of the students of English dept. to write creative writing.And it is a matter of pride that our students are no exception in this regard.we have poets, thinkers, story-tellers and what-not!I am really tempted to see Ripple!

Wall magazine is very good creativity. It is included contemporary art, lifestyle, interviews and experts advices.

Thank you Bidita for suggesting your ideas. I also agree with you. Our limitation of publishing certain desired ideas of yours due to the shortcoming of various types’ writings. Most of the writers go for traditional write-ups like Poetry, story, essay, and review etc. I highly request to the students to submit their writings in various types like contemporary art, lifestyle, interviews and experts advices, quotes, and regular and irregular striking matters, observation to the social and personal life. I request upcoming Message panel for considering these writings beside traditional piece of works.

A long time has been passed since the department of English published its last wall mag. I think, writers will be erupted if another publication of the wall magazine comes out in this semester.

Dear Madam:
I must say it is a concerted effort of all its well-wishers, backhand workers and the contributors to bring out the Message regularly. I know, out of your dedication to and love for it, you will be able to publish another one shortly, with support from other teachers and students of English.

We are with you for any sort of cooperation, if needed. In fact, I have envisaged to submit a poem when the deadline will be declared.

I personally interested to learn more in writing haiku.

Dear All,

I hope you will be happy to know that we are very near to publish our next wall-magazine (Spring 2012).And this time, it is a collection of haiku.67 selected haiku have been already hand-written by Abdullah Amim(Sameer) and Tamanna Mustafa from 16th Batch.Irin Nippu from 15th Batch with her team worked very hard on illustration part and as the supervisor, I have selected and edited the submitted haiku.

I would like to share all the haiku written by our students for the spring 2012 issue.There were 12 writers.I will post their haiku one by one.

Here we go:

The following haiku are written by Sadia Afrin of 14th Batch:


(1)   midnight…
        you were there
        in a dream

(2)   wearing a blue saree
        standing before me
        my loving mom

(3)   small face
        eyes full of abomination
        a street boy

(4)   smile on his face
        wants to win the world
        my son’s photo


(5)   nest on the tree
        two small birds
        chirp and chirp

(6)   3:00 am
        shuddering in the dark
        watching a horror movie

(7)   pink,red and white
        a bunch of flowers
        in my flower vase

The following haiku are written by Irin Nippu  of 15th Batch who has also worked very hard with her team to bring out Message,spring,2012.

Here we go:

(1)   wind wallops on face
        she floats
        in a cold hot air balloon

(2)   rain drops
        falling and falling
        cleaning away the earth
             
(3)   a rainbow
        leaning to the ground
        kissing  the blue grass flower

(4)   ice melts
        on her lips
        nature shivers

(5)   butterflies hurdle
        flower to flower 
        colors dance and melt

      some moments

       end of the month
      taking his salary

         a dead body

     some person, some happiness
     some sorrow, some dreams


Here we have only 12 though Saddam had got more in his store...:-)
