Departments / consistency of long chain fatty acids in sperata Aor
« on: August 11, 2014, 12:38:41 PM »
in our study conducted on Sperata Aor,   the muscle lipid from this specimen contained lower amounts of unsaturated fatty acids. This was also supported by iodine value. Again the value was higher than the refractive index of coconut oil, consistent with (44-52%) lauric acid C12 and has the refractive index 1.4530 at 30ºC. This value indicates that the lipid sample consistent with long chain fatty acids.

Departments / Unsaturated fatty acid content of sperata Aor

Refractive index is a measure of the light retarding property of a medium equal to the ratio of the velocity of the light in vacuum to that in the medium. The refractive power of fats or oils varies somewhat widely and governed chiefly by the degree of unsaturation present therein. It is thus characteristic for various classes of fats and is much used in butter analysis. In our investigation, the refractive index of the muscle lipid of Sperata aor (Ayre fish) was found to be 1.4642 at 30ºC . indicating  the muscle lipid from this specimen contained lower amounts of unsaturated fatty acids.

Story, Article & Poetry / Second Class Citizenship

Few days earlier, on my way to University main campus- Dhanmondi, from my home- Bonoshree,  at the middle of my destination, under torrential shower,  I was stuck for  around three hours.... don't be surprised, I had not fallen in a accident...... it was the activity of our administrative higher ups, who like to call themselves public servant, the police officials, were made us awaited, for their Zeep passing from Shantinogor to Rajarbag.

Indeed, It would have meant nothing to the authority concerned, regardless of our plight as a result of our suffering the whole day.

Following the incident, last few days I am going through a mental breakdown, enabling me to consider whether we are the second class citizen in here or not.

Ramadan and Fasting / Whether we would observe Shab- E- Barat
« on: June 10, 2014, 06:36:58 PM »

There is only one blessed night, the night of Qadr, mentioned in the Qur’an. The Prophet (SAW) recommended nafl Ibadah in the last 10 nights of Ramadan, one of which may be the night of Qadr. This is the night when the Qur’an was revealed and when angels bring Allah’s Decrees.

The Prophet (SAW) visited the graveyard of Al-Baqi one night and said a prayer for those who died as believers. There are no authentic reports which tell us exactly which night this was.

The Bidd’ah of 15 Sha’ban was propagated by scholars like Abdul Qadir Jilani. Primarily, this has gained fan following because of Sufism’s hold in the Subcontinent. Sufis are very comfortable with the idea of Bidd’ah and have either created many new rituals in the name of Islam or ‘Islamised’ the rituals of other religions.

Therefore, 15th of Sha’ban is not significant in anyway. As Muslims, we must stay away from this Bidd’ah and ensure that we tell our family and friends that all Bidd’ah are grave errors and should be rejected.
