“ Weaver of Raveloe ”

Written by: Rasel
MA in English
Daffodil International University.
Date of Writing: 26/08/2015.

His name was Silas Marner
A solitary weaver of Raveloe,
Falsely accused for theft earlier,
Though he was a very nice fellow.

Worked very hard from dawn to late night
In this way he earned gold coins,
Seeing the gold coins his eyes became bright,
Those gold coins were seemed to him very precious jems.

After stealing his gold coins transformation came to his mind
Finding little Eppie he has found a great expectation,
He brought her up being so kind,
Eppie being the lively lady though he had no frustration.

Finally Eppie found her real father and she denied him,
Marner was a real foster father and she accepted him.

Written by: Rasel.
M.A.  in English

His name was Lakunle,
A school teacher and very naive in character.

He fonds of modernity without any care,
This is called extremist and it is not fair.

He represented modernity and Baroka represented tradition,
They were so different having no good relation.

Both of them loved the same girl whose name was Sidi,
Finally Lakunle found nothing but Baroka found Sidi.

( This poem is written on the basis of  the play “The lion and the Jewel”  by Wole Soyinka.)

“Sidi - The Jewel”

Written by: Rasel.
M.A.  in English
Daffodil International University, Dhaka.

Sidi; a passionate girl looking like a fool,
Overalls womanized herself being always cool.

She was very practical and also clever,
Lakunle and Baroka wanted her forever.

Sidi loved modernity though wanted dowry,
Lakunle also refused to give her dowry.

She needed such dowry to sustain the tradition,
Baroka impressed her showing that he also loves tradition.

Lakunle found nothing but his fate became cruel,
Ultimately Baroka being lion and Sidi being Jewel.

“Month of December”
                                 Written by: Rasel.
                                 Written Date: 14/12/2014.

December is the month,
               when I was born.
December is the month,
when we got victory in 1971.
December is the month,
when winter increase in this month.
December is the month,
               when vegetables grows in plenty.
December is the last month of a year,
when every people wait for coming another new year.
December is the month of joys and sorrows,
though still we remember this month.

                                              Poem
                                    “Flying in the Dream”
                                      Written by: Rasel.

In the foggy morning I felt lonely at my land,
Something I had to do that was my plan.

But what things I had to do I didn’t know,
So I was wandering at my land somehow.

Suddenly the sun gave its light on the earth,
Then all the things became refresh.

Now I could see the whole scene at a glance,
Suddenly I saw a boy playing on the grass by his handmade paper plane.

Suddenly some pigeon flew over my head,
To show my joy I raised my hand.

I wanted to catch them,
But it was difficult to catch them.

I knew it was difficult to catch them,
I flew with them without wings but lovely dream.
