Title: Love poems

Love One Another

By Khalil Gibran

You were born together, and together you shall be forever more.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup, but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

I suppose that can create true love. Not enmeshing your space with others.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

 - this is very powerful. I guess it refers to the  attachment we build up with the loved ones and when they had to leave, we fall apart, start blaming each other without understanding the predicaments that led the person to leave. I have read similar philosophy in Buddha. Love but don't make an attachment, so if the person had to leave, you can still love him/her without crushing yourself into pieces.

I agree with you Rafi...probably it refers to the 'unconditional love'...'affection without any limitations'  :)

I remember a quote from Mathew:  If you love only those who love you, what kind of love is that?

Kenny Rogers

Once in a lifetime the right love comes by
With no rhyme or reason, you never know why
You wake up one morning and nothing?s the same for you.

The kisses taste sweeter, the touch just feels right
You rush through the morning to get to the night
And then you're together and it takes your breath away.

So, hold on to your heart
Lets think forever right from the start
But loves not forever
It's just for the rest of our lives.

You're not my first love, but you'll be my last
I give you my future, forgive me my past
And I know in my heart, that this is what I want to do.

I wrote a short love poem. Here it is:

Love: Blind and Deaf

The blind person says to the deaf
Your face is a lovely thing
The deaf person says to the blind
What a sweet song you sing!

Khalil Gibran?
How about the spelling of the name of the great maestro?
I think it should be Kahlil Gibran, don't you?
However, well done, Tina!

Shams Sir,there is a confusion with the spelling. It is spelled as both 'Khalil' and 'Kahlil'...I would appreciate your observation.

Kahlil Gibran, you mean, Madam?
Love poem? Yes, I rarely came across any one like Kahlil Gibran, an immigrant in a foreign land, I mean the US, with so  little knowledge of the language, English, commanding so much respect for his English even from his native speaker  Headmistress lover.
Good piece, Tina!
