TEACHING IS A JOB AT WHICH WE ARE NEVER PERFECT.  THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING MORE TO LEARN.

3  PRINCIPAL STEPS OF STUDY:
1.    THE SUBJECT, WHICH WE ARE TEACHING;
2.    THE METHODS BY WHICH WE CAN BEST BE TAUGHT TO THE STUDENTS
3.    THE STUDENTS

One cup of green peas contains eight times the protein of a cup of spinach.

And with almost 100% of our daily value of vitamin C,

They’ll help keep our immune system up to snuff.

BRAIN ATTACK = STROKE

A STROKE OCCURS WHEN THE BLOOD SUPPLY TO THE BRAIN IS STOPPED. IF THIS HAPPENS FOR ENOUGH TIME, NEURONS WILL START TO DIE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GET ENOUGH OXYGEN. PARALYSIS OR APHASIA (LOSS OF SPEECH) ARE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF A STROKE.
THERE ARE TWO MAJOR CAUSES OF A STROKE:
1. BLOCKAGE OF A BLOOD VESSEL (IN THE BRAIN OR NECK) CAUSED BY:
•   A BLOOD CLOT IN THE BRAIN OR NECK (THIS IS CALLED A THROMBOSIS)
•   A BLOOD CLOT FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT HAS MOVED AND NOW BLOCKS A BLOOD VESSEL IN THE BRAIN OR NECK (THIS IS CALLED AN EMBOLISM)
•   CONSTRICTION OR NARROWING OF AN ARTERY IN THE HEAD OR NECK (THIS IS CALLED A STENOSIS)
2. BLEEDING OF A BLOOD VESSEL (THIS IS CALLED HEMORRHAGIC STROKE)

Allied Health Science / Lack of oxygen affects brain and memory
« on: March 13, 2016, 03:21:00 PM »

Oxygen allows the brain to process billions of pieces of information every second.
It also calms the mind and stabilizes the nervous system.

Increases concentration and alertness.

Without oxygen, brain cells die quickly…and unlike our liver cells, brain cells cannot regenerate, which results in memory loss.

More severe loss of oxygen in the brain can result in speech impairment and loss of motor skills.

  DRINKING  LEMON WATER

Drinking  lemon water helps to speed up weight loss. In addition some of the toxins in our body are cleaned out, promotes quick bursts of energy and even cleans out some of your internal waste.

If we drink lemon water in the morning especially, it will help to activate our body's detoxifying process and also its natural cleansing process. This principle works proportionally, so the more lemon water we drink, the more we ought to speed up weight loss.

OXYGEN and BLOOD

When we inhale, oxygen from the air we breathe is diffused through membranes and into red blood cells. The oxygen-rich blood then circulates throughout the body and finds tissues in need of oxygen.

Enzymes in the body combine with the oxygen molecules and initiate many metabolic (i.e., oxidative) processes in the body. One of the waste products of oxidation is carbon dioxide, which is then released from the cells into the blood. It combines with hemoglobin and bicarbonates and is transported back to the lungs -- where the process starts all over again.

Allied Health Science / LOWER-CALORIE, LOW FAT COOKING METHOD
« on: March 13, 2016, 02:34:09 PM »

Steaming is a very healthy cooking method.

First, since food is cooked by direct contact between steam (conduction) as well as the movement of the hot vapor through the food (convection), no fat is needed to conduct the heat.  Often, just few drops of lemon juice is all needed to add to a steamed dish.  This makes steaming a lower-calorie, low fat cooking method.

Food stays moist, too, since it is being bathed in water vapor.  Also, since water soluble nutrients (namely Vitamins C and B) don’t leach out into vapor, steaming preserves up to 50% more nutrients than other moist heat cooking methods.
