HIJAB FOR MEN AND WOMEN (Instructions for the Believing Men and Women)
WHAT DOES ALLAH INSTRUCT THE BELIEVING MEN ACCORDING TO THE HOLY QURAN?
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.
[Quran Surah Al Noor Ayat 30]
WHAT DOES ALLAH INSTRUCT THE BELIEVING WOMEN ACCORDING TO THE HOLY QURAN?
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
[Quran Surah Al Noor Ayat 31]
WHY SHOULD THE WOMEN MAINTAIN THE HIJAB?
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
[Surah Al Ahzaab Ayat 59]
There are basically six criteria for hijab:
1.FOR MEN: Covering should be from the navel to the knee.
FOR WOMEN: Complete body should be covered except the hands upto the wrists and the face and according to some scholars the face also needs to be covered.
FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN: (Clothes they wear)
2. Should not be tight that it reveals the figure.
3. Should not be transparent or translucent so that it can be seen through.
4. Should not be so glamorous that it attracts the opposite gender.
5. Should not resemble that of the opposite gender.
6. Should not resemble that of the unbelievers.
