Hajj / Saudi Arabia to allow foreign pilgrims for Umrah from August 10
« on: August 12, 2021, 03:38:02 PM »
Saudi Arabia will allow pilgrims living outside the country to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage, starting August 10.

The country on Sunday announced the resumption of Umrah service for pilgrims worldwide from 1st Muharram, 1443, after the end of the Hajj season, according to state press agency SPA.

Meanwhile, Umrah for Saudi citizens and residents in the Kingdom restarted on Sunday.

In early July, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stopped receiving applications for Umrah to prepare for this year’s Hajj.

However, from Sunday, Umrah agencies have been allowed to issue visas.

All countries have been allowed to send direct flights except for nine.

Pilgrims from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and Lebanon will need to undergo a quarantine of 14 days in a third country before arriving in the Kingdom.

Also, it has been made mandatory to be vaccinated against Covid-19 with complete doses of either Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, or J&J; complete doses of China's vaccines with a booster shot of either Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, or J&J.

Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina undertaken any time of the year.

In February last year, it was suspended over fears of the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, the Kingdom reopened Muslim holy sites for Umrah after a six-month pause in October same year.

Spirituality / Spirituality
« on: April 25, 2021, 11:34:43 AM »
Spirituality means different things to different people. For some, it's primarily about a belief in God and active participation in organized religion. For others, it's about non-religious experiences that help them get in touch with their spiritual selves through quiet reflection, time in nature, private prayer, yoga, or meditation.

Many people identify as spiritual but not religious: With a few exceptions, the percentage of adults who identify as religious in many industrialized countries is declining, while remaining generally high in less developed nations. Even as religious affiliation decreases, though, a sense of spiritual identification could remain steady or even increase.

The Benefits of a Spiritual Life:

No direct causal link has been established, but research has consistently found that religious involvement is correlated with better physical and mental health, including better sleep, lower blood pressure, and an overall lower rate of mortality. Higher levels of spirituality have also been linked to increased compassion, strengthened relationships, and improved self-esteem.

There may be a downside for people who avoid religion and spirituality altogether: Some research has indicated that eschewing “magical thinking” and being unable to identify patterns in the surrounding world may be linked to depression or anhedonia, the inability to experience pleasure.

Are spiritual people more generous?

People who have endured experiences of intense psychological turmoil, research finds, often emerge much more spiritual, and altruistic, than they were before—for example, they are more likely to donate a kidney to a stranger. What some would call a spiritual awakening leads such people to become less materialistic, more empathetic, and more generous.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words.
Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits.
Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny.” – Gandhi

It transpires that Ghandi had it right; what we focus our attention on is directly correlated to the quality of our life.

WHAT IS THIS CREATIVE VISUALISATION:
Creative visualisation is simply the technique of using your imagination to create what you want in your life.

When you creatively visualise, you use your imagination to create an idea, thought or feeling of something you’d like to manifest in your life. Then, over time, you return to that idea, thought or feeling regularly until it becomes a reality.

It can be used as a form of mindfulness and as a tool to manage stress.

THE SCIENCE

In the International Coaching Academy’s neuroscience and visualisation research paper,  it is stated that “if you exercise an idea over and over [in your mind], your brain will begin to respond as though the idea was a real object in the world.”

This is because, “The thalamus [the part of the reality-making process of the brain] makes no distinction between inner and outer realities, and thus, any idea, if contemplated long enough, will take on a semblance of reality… The concept begins to feel more attainable and real, and this is the first step in motivating other parts of the brain to take deliberate action in the world.”

According to this article on visualisation in Psychology Today, “brain studies now reveal that thoughts produce the same mental instructions as actions. Mental imagery impacts many cognitive processes in the brain: motor control, attention, perception, planning, and memory.”

During visualisation, the brain is training for actual real-life experience.

IN A NUTSHELL, YOUR BRAIN DOESN’T TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IMAGINING AN IDEA, THOUGHT OR FEELING AND ACTUALLY HAVING THAT IDEA, THOUGHT OR FEELING.

Studies show that creative visualisation can enhance your motivation, increase your confidence and self-efficacy, improve motor performance, prime your brain for success, increase states of flow and help to lower stress – all relevant to improving your health!

Place / Lake Baikal: World's Largest, Deepest Lake
« on: December 20, 2020, 02:46:17 PM »
During the summer, when Lake Baikal is full of melted ice from the Siberian mountains, it is sometimes possible to see more than 130 feet (39 m) down.

Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in the world (by volume) and the world's deepest lake. Somewhat crescent shaped, it is in the southern Siberia area of Russia. In 1996 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

"Lake Baikal is the oldest lake in the world. It is home to approximately 1,700 to 1,800 endemic plant and animal species," said Jennifer Castner of Pacific Environment's Russia program. Additionally, it holds 20 percent of the world's fresh water, due to the lake's depth.

Lake Baikal features:

There are 27 mostly uninhabited islands in Lake Baikal, according to Lake Baikal.org. The largest is 45-mile-long (72 km) Olkhon, on which there are villages. About 1,500 people live there.

More than 300 streams and rivers feed into Lake Baikal, but the Angara River is the only outlet. It carries out about 60 cubic km (15.8 trillion gallons) of water per year into the Yenisei River. Eventually the water makes its way to the Arctic Ocean.

The Selenga River is the largest source of water coming into Lake Baikal. Flowing north from Mongolia, it contributes nearly 50 percent of the lake's water

Lake Baikal is the only very deep lake to have oxygenated water at its lowest depths, like the ocean, according to a 2009 article in BioScience. Additionally, the earth under Lake Baikal is heated. The cause of the heat is unknown.

Definition:

‘Learning to learn’ is the ability to pursue and persist in learning, to organise one's own learning, including through
effective management of time and information, both individually and in groups. This competence includes awareness
of one's learning process and needs, identifying available opportunities, and the ability to overcome obstacles in order
to learn successfully. This competence means gaining, processing and assimilating new knowledge and skills as well as
seeking and making use of guidance. Learning to learn engages learners to build on prior learning and life experiences
in order to use and apply knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts: at home, at work, in education and training.
Motivation and confidence are crucial to an individual's competence.

Essential knowledge, skills and attitudes related to this competence:

Where learning is directed towards particular work or career goals, an individual should have knowledge of the
competences, knowledge, skills and qualifications required. In all cases, learning to learn requires an individual to
know and understand his/her preferred learning strategies, the strengths and weaknesses of his/her skills and
qualifications, and to be able to search for the education and training opportunities and guidance and/or support
available.

Learning to learn skills require firstly the acquisition of the fundamental basic skills such as literacy, numeracy and ICT
skills that are necessary for further learning. Building on these skills, an individual should be able to access, gain,
process and assimilate new knowledge and skills. This requires effective management of one's learning, career and
work patterns, and, in particular, the ability to persevere with learning, to concentrate for extended periods and to
reflect critically on the purposes and aims of learning. Individuals should be able to dedicate time to learning
autonomously and with self-discipline, but also to work collaboratively as part of the learning process, draw the
benefits from a heterogeneous group, and to share what they have learnt. Individuals should be able to organise their
own learning, evaluate their own work, and to seek advice, information and support when appropriate.
A positive attitude includes the motivation and confidence to pursue and succeed at learning throughout one's life. A
problem-solving attitude supports both the learning process itself and an individual's ability to handle obstacles and
change. The desire to apply prior learning and life experiences and the curiosity to look for opportunities to learn and
apply learning in a variety of life contexts are essential elements of a positive attitude.

Famous Speeches / Famous Short Speeches For Inspiration
« on: September 14, 2020, 03:31:01 PM »
J.K. ROWLING
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all. In which case, you fail by default.”

OPRAH WINFREY
“You must have some kind of vision for your life. Even if you don’t know the plan, you have to have a direction in which you choose to go. I never was the kind of woman who liked to get in the car and just go for a ride…I want to know: Where are we going? Do we have a destination? Is there a plan or are we just riding? What I’ve learned is that’s a great metaphor for life. You want to be in the driver’s seat of your own life, if you’re not, then life will drive you.”

HILLARY CLINTON
Life is not easy for anyone. Sometimes you don’t see the challenges on the outside, but every single one of us has both those and everything that goes on inside as well. Give it all. Dare to be all you can be.”

STEVE JOBS
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

ELLEN DEGENERES
“For many of you, success is being able to hold down 20 shots of tequila. For me, the most important thing in your life is to live your life with integrity and not to give into peer pressure to try to be something that you’re not, to live your life as an honest and compassionate person, to contribute in some way.”

MAHATMA GANDHI
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

Law of Attraction / Using the Law of Attraction in Life
« on: August 18, 2020, 02:41:25 PM »
The Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. Just like gravity, it is always in effect, always in motion. It is working in your life at this very moment. You are always in a state of creation. You are creating your reality in every moment of every day. You are creating your future with every single thought: either consciously or subconsciously. You can’t take a break from it and decide not to create because creation never stops.

Understanding just how the Law of Attraction is a fundamental key to your success. If you want to change your life, and empower yourself to create an amazing future, then you need to understand your role in the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction allows for infinite possibilities, infinite abundance, and infinite joy. It knows no order of difficulty, and it can change your life in every way.

What is the Law of Attraction?
Law of Attraction says that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on. Whatever you give your energy and attention to will come back to you.

So, if you stay focused on the good and positive things in your life, you will automatically attract more good and positive things into your life. If you are focused upon lack and negativity, then that is what will be attracted into your life.

Here’s how it works:

Like attracts like. If you are feeling excited, enthusiastic, passionate, happy, joyful, appreciative, or abundant, then you are sending out positive energy.

On the other hand, if you are feeling bored, anxious, stressed out, angry, resentful, or sad, you are sending out negative energy.

The universe, through the Law of Attraction, will respond enthusiastically to both of these vibrations. It doesn’t decide which one is better for you, it just responds to whatever energy you are creating, and it gives you more of the same. You get back exactly what you put out there.

How to Use the Law of Attraction:
Once you understand the Law of Attraction, and how it works, you can begin to consciously and intentionally create a better life.

You can choose to respond differently to the situations that arise during your day.

You can choose to think differently.

You can choose to focus and think about the things you want more of in your life.

You can choose to experience more of the things that make you feel good.

You can choose to deliberately participate in the creation of your future by managing your thoughts and feelings.

Affirmation / Steps to Creating Positive Affirmations
« on: July 28, 2020, 12:18:12 PM »
By changing the way you think, reprogramming your mind and removing the old negative beliefs that have been sabotaging you again and again throughout your life, positive affirmations are a cornerstone of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. When created and used correctly, positive affirmations can enable you to achieve the life you’ve always wanted for yourself!

Creating your own affirmations is the perfect way to get the right affirmations for you.  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy outlines 3 steps to create your own positive affirmations.

1. Take some time to think about areas in your life you would like to improve and how you might want your life to be.

2.Write down a list of the most important improvements you would like.

3.Look at each item on the list and write out a few positive statements for each. The statements must be positive and in the present tense.  Make sure to focus on what you do want and not on what you don’t want.

There are many types of affirmations.  In the early stages of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, some of the affirmations you will receive will be “releasing” in nature.  These are designed to assist you in overcoming any initial resistance to the process.  Other affirmations may focus on health, love, weight loss, peace and happiness.  Below is a list of positive affirmations that are often used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Releasing Affirmations:

I am ready and willing to release the past, now.

Affirmations for Health:

Every Cell in my body vibrates with energy and health.

Loving myself heals my life. I nourish my mind, body and soul.

My body heals quickly and easily.

Affirmations for Abundance:

I prosper wherever I turn and I know that I deserve prosperity of all kinds.

The more grateful I am, the more reasons I find to be grateful.

Affirmations for Love:

I know that I deserve Love and accept it now.

I give out Love and it is returned to me multiplied.

I rejoice in the Love I encounter every day.

Positive Thinking / Speech on Having a Positive Attitude in life
« on: July 18, 2020, 05:47:26 PM »
Having a positive attitude in life is very essential. It helps us in reaching our goals and keeping our life, health and relationships healthy. Here’s a collection of short speeches on positive attitude.

Speech on positive attitude:

Whenever we observe our surroundings, the environment and the people, we realize that the world can be a very difficult place to live in. It can be difficult to survive and lead a peaceful life. People not only fight but also struggle each and every day to achieve their goals and be successful in their lives. Everyone has their own set of problems that they are trying to overcome to lead a better life.

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you”. – Brian Tracy

There is constant struggle and very many obstacles that occur at different stages of life causing depression. People tend to lose heart. The only way to success is to just keep persevering with the tasks at hand leading to progress and achievement of what one set out on and not abandoning it half way through the struggle.

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”- Thomas Jefferson

Problems were, are and will always be there. We can never get rid of them completely and sometimes we cannot we change them. From illness, loss, to persecution and poverty. However, it depends on us how we treat them. When we solve one problem, we should be prepared for another that will arrive. This is a constant cycle and as we age we know life has its ups and downs. It is important for us to face these downs with good attitude and enthusiasm, for then we will look after ourselves to the best of our ability  we might just solve the problem at hand.

Positive thinking and spreading the word can inspire others. Here is a great quote by Charles Dickens that underpins the power or positive thinking: “For the rest of his life, Oliver Twist remembers a single word of blessing spoken to him by another child because this word stood out so strikingly from the consistent discouragement around him.” – Charles Dickens, ‘Oliver Twist’

It is all about us and our mindset. If we train ourselves to look at everything in life with a positive attitude, we will find that life is not as bad as we think it is. We can make our world a better place to live in. Hence, it is important to keep a positive mindset and outlook on life.

Think on this quote: “Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens”. -Kahlil Gibran.

In life, our mindset determines which road we travel on. One road is paved in scarcity and the other road is filled with abundance at every turn. In any moment, we can choose to change which road we want to travel on.

The scarcity pathway leads one to experience a life not fully lived, a life that can only be described as pedestrian. Overflowing with strong negative reactions like the high tide that creates waves in a rock pool not to mention the countless missed opportunities and experiences.

Those that choose to walk along the path of abundance experience a completely different life. Opting to live life to the full, exuding happiness, generous by nature, creative and inspirational. Taking full advantage and enjoying the wave of opportunities that come their way, along with memorable experiences.

As the famous quote suggests: "The secret to having it all is believing you already do".

Here are the 7 main differences between those with a scarcity mindset vs an abundance mindset.

1. Thinking Big vs Thinking Small
2. Plenty vs Lack
3. Happiness vs Resentment
4. Embracing Change vs Fear Of Change
5. Proactive vs Reactive
6. Learning vs Knowing It All
7. What Is Working vs What Is Not Working

Those with an abundance mindset are often visionaries and see the limitless possibilities in the world. Their focus in daily life is on 'What is working'.

The path you have traveled thus far is not set in stone, such is the beauty of life you can change. Deciding to change paths is the first step.

Life is short, live large, believe in the endless possibilities life has to offer and choose to live an abundant life creating memorable moments you can cherish forever.

Place / Buda and Pest – A Tale of Two Cities in Hungary
« on: June 25, 2020, 04:48:20 PM »
The capital city of Hungary is known to be one of the world's most beautiful cities. Cut in half with the Danube, the river takes a striking place in the make up of the city as well as being one of the natural highlights for visitors.

Prior to the formation of the city now known as Budapest, the cities were actually separated by the river into their comparably and aptly named parts: Buda and Pest.

The segments of the city are not just separated by the river, but make up unique features in the city of Budapest based on the history from long ago.

If Buda could be described as having sites relating back to years past, Pest would symbolize all things present and future in being the home of Hungary's Parliament and modern government.

The most famous visiting spot in Buda (Western Budapest) is the district known as Castle Hill, home of the Royal Palace. Unlike many palaces in the world, which have enjoyed relative stability throughout the years, the Royal Palace of Buda has only seen unrest. Interestingly enough, the palace has never actually been occupied by the Royal Family and is now a historical relic of years past.

The Parliament building of Pest is famous in its own right as it is the largest Parliament building in Europe and said to be just 1 meter wider and longer than England's own building of similar design.Going with its size is its beauty and is considered a master piece from all angles.
