Chocolate that consist about 70% of cocoa solids are found to have great nutritional value that are beneficial to the health. A number of researches have taken place regarding the nutritional benefits of chocolate. It consists of essential elements and nutrients that are essential for our health. It contains iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and vitamins. Lack of magnesium may lead to hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, joint problems and premenstrual tension. The magnesium that the chocolate provides is beneficial for cardiovascular system. Even though chocolate contains high quality fat yet does not clog up the arteries neither does it contributes to high cholesterol levels. Steriac acid which most of the people consider being a major cause of health problems actually appears to have neutral effects on the cholesterol. According to a research, it was found that,
Cacao(chocolate)
- contains antibacterial agents that help in fighting tooth decay.
- Just the smell is more than enough to stimulate the brain and relax it. The presence of phenyl ethylamine acts as a mood elevator. So acts as anti-depressant.
- Cocoa butter helps in raising the good cholesterol.
- Since cocoa has a high level of antioxidants it raises the level of antioxidants in the blood as well. It is also helpful to slow the aging process.
- Bronchitis and insect bites are treated with chocolates.
- Also it raises seratonin level in the brain which is responsible to feel good.
Chocolate in its purest form is considered to have a number of nutritional benefits. It is a great source of antioxidants that helps in fighting against stress. According to researchers, consumption of flavonoid rich food helps in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Chocolate also helps in healthy blood flow and blood pressure. The presence of flavanol helps in preventing the fats from clogging the arteries by oxidizing them. So allow yourself to take a small bite of chocolate twice a week in moderation.
