Mom/Ma'am, I've achieved my most desirable gift....
Yesterday, it was 3rd January 2013, the end of Fall semester 2012. When I started my office in the early morning, it was so quiet since it was the first day of semester break. I usually don't enjoy the campus without my lively students. I love to see that from 9 am to 5 pm the campus will be full of vibrant students and we teachers will be busy handling them, taking classes, checking scripts, counseling them, dealing with their co curricular activities and so on. Other than this, DIU campus seems like a silent tomb to me. Just after passing some time in office I heard voices of the students. Sahadat informed me that the laptop distribution program had started. Yes, this is the moment which I love to see. I love to see the winning faces of DIU students. "In fact its their winning..."- this statement came boldly from the honorable Chairman sir, Mr Sabur Khan in yesterday's laptop distribution program. Around 10:45 am I entered into the auditorium & found all the young faces along with the faces of knowledgeable professors & the top management people. My eyes were searching for my law students. Suddenly I heard, "Ma'am, we are here." I smiled to them & took my place with the teachers. The program started with the usual process of delivering of speeches containing advices for the students. The last speech was delivered by honorable Chairman sir. I must say that it was a very lively speech as he incorporated all the students in his speech. It was just like a question-answer session speech which made the speech different & attractive to the students. After the program the photo session started & I left the auditorium.
After coming to my room, I started working with the plan of Spring semester 2013. My office room was calm and quiet when suddenly got the sound of my own children "Mom"... I became confused as they were supposed to be at school at that time! Then I heard a knock on my door and found that all the laptop winners of law department had come to show me their achievement. "Ma'am, this one is my laptop..."ma'am, please look at my one." "Ma'am, yes, I've opened my one..." So many excited voices! They all visited my room to show their achievements... the feeling was so precocious... as if the sons & daughters have come to show their mother what they have achieved. I was so touched by their feeling of love for me. Yes, I must say, its their achievement. Honorable Chairman sir said in the program, "Though its, 'one student, one laptop' our project but we don't provide you laptops at the time of admission. We check your performance & then provide you that. And remember if we get any complain from your parents about the misuse of laptop we will take it away from you." Attitude must be like this, it may sound little harsh but it's correct. Its just like "Prize & Punishment Theory". Among all the students two of mine, Sayeed Rayhan & Rubel were selected for receiving laptop from honorable Chairman of BoT for securing GPA 4. It made Rubel more excited. And I would like to take this opportunity to say that I personally love these two boys for their class performance & sweet behavior with me. After some photo shots with me they left my room with cheerful mood. Today when I shared this experience with my children during lunch time, my baby said, "Hmmm ... I've to share my mom with DIU law students. I'm sure they address you as mom not ma'am." "Didn't I hear that word yesterday in my office room?! My best wishes for my own children & for my loving students ..... They are always in my thoughts & prayers.
