Title: BIONIC CONTACT LENS
Post by: shahina on February 25, 2013, 02:00:35 PM

IT IS TIME TO SEE THE WORLD THROUGH  BIONIC CONTACT LENS

Bionic contact lens could be used by drivers and pilots, providing routes and information on weather or the vehicle.
the lens CAN ALSO help monitor a person’s biological conditions such as cholesterol level or the presence of viruses and bacteria.
The collected data can then be sent wirelessly to a computer. It can also assist the visually impaired.

Bionic contact lenses = conventional  elastic contact lens +  added bionics technology (imprinted electronic circuit).

IT provides a virtual display. The invention allows the wearers to see the world by superimposing computerized pictures onto their natural view.

Is this lens harmful for eyes. I came to know that most of the lenses cause damage of our eyes in certain conditions.

Good question.

Yes most of the artificial things have their advantages and disadvantages. e.g. pacemaker which are nowadays widely used for distressed heart that cannot make its own exciting pulses are made which such material which our body can accept. These are biologically tested and comes to the market.

Again contact lenses are elastic materials which has advantages and disadvantages but needs to be maintained properly.    e.g. they need to be cleaned frequently, used till expiry date etc.

Therefore scientists are developing bionic lenses, they are of course should be biologically acceptable and  if maintained properly may not be as harmful as now being thought.
