"25th Baisakh ….. Birthday of KABI GURU RABINDRANATH TAGORE"
Today is the birthday of Kobi Guru. I was enjoying my collections of Rabindranath in the morning …. Including all the precious pieces of him, I’ve a treasured memory of his 150 years’ birthday celebration. It was in 2011, Dhaka University organized “Robindra Bitorko Utshob” …. I was honored to be a judge in the final round. It was my entire pleasure to be the part of that “Robindra Bitorko Utshob”. From the hall decoration to debate topic …. from songs to soul touching reception of the debaters & DU teachers ….. I enjoyed everything! One of the organizers said, “Ma’am red rose is the symbol of love, we have tried to spread that in TSC auditorium today.” In fact the hall room was “ Shes biker godhuli’r lal avay makha”! I’ll cherish that Rabindra debate festival for a long time.

Paying tribute to Rabindranath Tagore (8 May 1861-6 August 1941) on his 152nd birth anniversary through sharing a recently launched website http://bichitra.jdvu.ac.in/ which reportedly contains almost complete works of Tagore. Thanks to the School of Cultural Texts an records, Jadavpur University, India for their noble initiative of online compilation of Tagore's Variorum.

A Glistening Drop of Dew
Bohu din dhore, bohu krosh dure,
bohu byay kori, bohu desh ghure,
Dekhite giyachhi parbotmala, dekhite giyachhi sindhu,
Dekha hoy nai chokkhu meliya,
Ghar hote shudhu dui pa feliya,
Ekti dhaner shisher upore ekti shishir bindu.
(Trans: I traveled miles, for many a year,
I spent a lot in lands afar,
I’ve gone to see the mountains, the oceans I’ve been to view.
But I haven’t seen with these eyes
Just two steps from my home lies
On a sheaf of paddy grain, a glistening drop of dew.)
