Title: Change your outlook
Post by: Shampa Iftakhar on September 09, 2013, 03:10:37 PM
Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went for a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he was back to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful, because it was the first time that he went for such a long trip, and the road that he went through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover every road of the entire country with leather.

Definitely, this would need thousands of cows’ skin, and would cost a huge amount of money.

Then one of his wise servants dared himself to tell the king, “Why do you have to spend that unnecessary amount of money? Why don’t you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?”

The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion, to make a “shoe” for himself.

To make this world a happy place to live, you better change yourself - your heart; and not the world. Receive good suggestion from one ignoring his or her social status.

Isn't it always pressurizing to change one's outlook? Why do we always have to fit in? :(

From this story's viewpoint, yes I think it is better to change yourself as the change seems appropriate, but if you universalize this "fitting in" type change, then I think we will be stuck in prehistoric age. People are born to change the world and this change is good as the world is never a perfect place.

Yes, the world is not perfect in all senses. But changing the external environment causes some problems. We are the best part of this world. So to make it better place, if necessary, we can change ourselves too.

Madam, don't feel pressurized. From my point of view, if I am not comfortable, I won't change anything no matter whether it is  shoes or my legs or my outlook for others. :D ;D  :)

There you go Shampa! 'Being comfortable' with myself matters the most!  ;)

Yes, to lead  an idyllic existence in this present world we have to change ourselves, at the same time we simply cannot ignore 'Being Comfortable' with oneself . Have I contradicted myself?
