'Selfie' has been named as word of the year by Oxford Dictionaries. It is defined as "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website."
Other shortlisted words included 'binge-watch', 'schmeat' and 'twerk'. But do many people know what they mean?

How about mentioning the word which got defeated? TWERK. ;)

Forget twerking apu, lets do selfie.
We all know why 'selfie' is there. The birth of Prince George, and the Syria chemical weapons deal -- 2013 shall be remembered as the year of the first Papal selfie. Following in the pioneering footsteps of Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton, and even Michelle Obama, Pope Francis went this year where no pope has gone before: in front of an iPhone held aloft by a smiling teenager.
O, it must have been defeated...poor Miley Cyrus. I wish she could make these people dance with her. Its all Politics.....u know

Dear Rabeya,
I'm all for selfie as I myself am a selfie freak! And please don't mention that awful girl looking for attention everywhere by twerking and sticking out her overgrown tongue! She's a disgrace. >:(
