Title: Attempt to commit suicide is a crime

An attempt to commit suicide is a crime under section 309 of the Penal Code for which the punishment is one year imprisonment which is prevailed in Bangladesh. The point is, this is such a crime which is not yet committed but for which punishment is provided. That's why sometimes law students think it to be the real joke.

Mam here is nothing to joke at all. here punishment is provided for trying to commit that offense. the purpose is to prevent committing suicide.

Dear ma'am, I did not say that this is a joke, I said that, "sometimes law students think it to be the real joke," thanks.  :)

Lots of people attempt this, but I did not hear any one got punishment for this, if anyone know about any case of punishment for this crime, please share the information here. :)
