The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (commonly abbreviated DofE), is the generic name for a youth awards programme founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh that has since expanded to 146 other countries.On 20 August 2008, the former British High Commissioner to Bangladesh HE Mr. Stephen Evans initiated the programme in Dhaka. Since the inception 4,500 students from 28 leading institutions from Dhaka and Chittagong enrolled for the award.
To achieve an award, the participant must work on each section for a minimum period of time, and must be monitored and assessed. Each progressive level demands more time and commitment from participants:

1.      Bronze             : 3–6 months;

2.      Silver               : 6–9 months;

3.      Gold                : 12–18 months.

Adventurous Journey

·         Bronze—1 night and 2 days plus one practice journey of the same level

·         Silver—2 nights and 3 days plus one practice journey of the same level

·         Gold—3 nights and 4 days plus one practice journey of the same level
