Title: Quantum computers? First photonic router demonstrated
Post by: tamim_saif on July 17, 2014, 01:57:15 PM
Scientists have demonstrated for the first time a photonic router -- a quantum device based on a single atom that enables routing of single photons by single photons. This achievement is another step toward overcoming the difficulties in building quantum computers.

In near future, will it be possible to produce photonic microprocessor, where instead of electron movement, logical calculation will be done based on photon movement?

Are they going to replace the copper/ gold connector with tiny optical fiber lines on a PCB?
