Two. Good teaching is about substance and treating students as consumers of knowledge. It's about doing your best to keep on top of your field, reading sources, inside and outside of your areas of expertise, and being at the leading edge as often as possible. But knowledge is not confined to scholarly journals. Good teaching is also about bridging the gap between theory and practice. It's about leaving the ivory tower and immersing oneself in the field, talking to, consulting with, and assisting practitioners, and liaisoning with their communities. (To be continued.)

"We are no longer teaching if what we teach is more important than who we teach or how we teach."_Dianne Brederson, 2009

The responsibilities of a faculty member are well defined which are as follows:
1. Instructing students
2. Checking answer scripts
3. Preparing question papers
4. Invigilating in the exam hall
5. Counseling and guiding students
6. Managing students in the classrooms
7. Managing students outside the classroom
8. Doing research work
9. Preparing oneself for classes
10. Studying
11. Advising and doing registration
12. Submitting grades in the software
13. Working for different committees such as journal committee, event management committee, exam committee and so on and so forth
14. Designing syllabi and course materials
To me, teachers are free will agents. They love to do work on their own. So, they do their responsibilities of their own accord. I personally feel very pressured and sometimes I feel like leaving teaching profession when i have to check lots of answer scripts of quizzes, mid-term and final exams and do invigilation in the exam halls. But at the end of the day when i see my students are really learning something and discovering their true potentials and improving, i feel inspired to enjoy teaching.
Over to all for comments..

Teaching at tertiary level is not about doing research alone. Let us learn to help people with more than just their jobs; help them with their lives." — Jim Rohn

We are no longer teaching if what we teach us remains more important than who, how and why we teach.

Good teaching is about knowing your students first. It is also about taking feedback from our students regarding our teaching.
