Implementation Forum for "Student" related Issues

Both the problems and solutions for the area "Student Issues" are given below. The idea behind each child board is to take ownership of the solutions and suggest implementation actions, monitor and follow up the progress.

Student Issue: Problems
•   Not willing to pay tuition fees
•   Middle class background
•   Students financial problem
•   Online payment
•   Online admission
•   Bank Deposit
•   Orientation program share accounts knowledge
•   Students lacking of awareness of their career

Among all solutions I want to share more on Students’ motivation (Benefits of timely payment)
If students become more aware of the facility they are getting and have ideas how the facilities come from different sources then they will be encouraged to pay tuition fees and other payments in time.. We can arrange workshops where they will be able to get clear ideas about the facilities they are having and how they are contributing to to Daffodil university's welfare.

Problem:
Students need to be engaged in DIU email more. I have come to know of an issue where students were not aware about collecting admit card for final examination of summer 2015. Circulation through email was sent but a large number of students missed it and got into obvious hassle. A lot of useful and important information is circulated to students through email but its all a waste if not reached.

Possible Solution:
To handle this issue, students need to be motivated to remain active in DIU email. DSA can play a good role here. Also we may encourage email based students' query system so that they can get solution to their queries and problems through email. This will also avoid behavioral conflict among admin people and students in certain areas.

Thank you Mamum and Nazia for your valuable ideas and comments. The problems mentioned by you:

1. Student awareness
2. Student using DIU mail

We may try to solve this in the following manner:
       a. Design some awareness bullets that would help students understand the value of timely payment.
       b. Send this in their DIU mail, both in English and Bangla.
       c. Get Badshah to post an invitation in all FB groups to open their DIU mail to find helpful hints on how to handle "fees" issues.
       d. This way they would be encouraged to open their DIU mail and also find helpful hints on managing money.

So we can start by doing (a), i.e., creating helpful bullets here in the forum. Please suggest hints on how to manage "fees".

সকলকেই ধন্যবাদ!

আমি যখন স্টুডেন্ট ছিলাম, তখন দেখতাম আমাদের ফ্রেন্ড যারা ছিলো, তাদের মা - বাবা ঠিকি টাকা পাঠাতো, প্রয়োজনের তুলনায় একটু বেশিই পাঠাতো। কিন্তু তারা অন্য জায়গায় ব্যয় করার কারনে, টাকা বাকি পড়ে যেতো।

আমি যা ভাবি: স্টুডেন্টকে খুশি করার পাশাপাশি মা- বাবাকেও ইমপ্রেষ্ট করতে হবে, কারন পড়া লেখার ব্যয় তারাই বহন করে এবং এটি ড্রপ আউট কমাতে সহায়ক হবে।

তো সেটা কি ভাবে হতে পারে:

১. প্রখম যখন স্টুডেন্ট এডমিশন নেয়, তখন তার নামে ডিফল্ট ব্যাংক একাউন্ট খোলা হবে এবং সেই একাউন্ট নম্বর মা-বাবাকে দেয়া হবে। যেহেতু আমরা আগে থেকেই জানি চার মাসে তিন বার টাকা জমা দিতে হয়, ইভেন্ট ক্যালেন্ডার থেকে তারাও অবগত হতে পারবে এবং টাকা যথা সময়ে জমা দিতে পারবে। ( ড্যাফোডিল যে কোন ব্যাংক এর সাথে মেমোরান্ডাম করতে পারে, Eastern Bank এর সাথে কি ভাবে চুক্তি , সেটা আমার জানা নেই)


২. এডমিশন নেয়ার এক মাস পর মা বাবা কে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে চিঠি দেয়া যেতে পারে, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ধন্যবাদ পাওয়া চিঠি পাঠালে তারা খুশি ( মটিবেশন পাশে) হবে এবং অন্যজনকেও পরে শোনাবে, এতে ওয়ার্ড অব মাউথ হয়ে যাবে, সেটার দাম অনেক বেশি। ( এতে করে ড্রপ আউট কমে যেতে পারে). মা- বাবার কষ্ট হলেও ড্যাফোডিলকেই ভালোবাসবে, প্রথম দিকে শুধু ভালোাসাটুকু তাদের মনে জাগিয়ে দিতে হবে।

৩. দিন মাস পর মা- বাবাকে স্টুডেন্ট পোর্টাল এর আইডি দেয়া যেতে পারে এতে করে তারাও তার ছেলে বা মেয়ে সম্পর্কে ধারনা পাবে।

৪. চার মাসের মাথায় যে সকল স্যার বা ম্যাডাম কোর্স নেয় তারা স্টুডেন্টকে এই প্রথম চার মাস তার কি অনুভূতি হলো তার উপর এসাইনমেন্ট দিবে, স্টুডেন্ট নিজেই লিখবে সেখানে তার সুবিধা অসুবিধার কথা, স্যার - ম্যাডাম মারকিং করে ডিপাটমেন্ট এ জমা দিবে। ডিপাটমেন্ট  স্ক্যান করে গুগল ড্রাইবে রেখে দিবে। ম্যানেজম্যান্ট প্রবলেম গুলো নিয়ে বসে সমাধানের চেষ্টা করবে এবং সমাধান হয়ে গেলে , অডিটরিয়ামে অনুষ্ঠান করে তার প্রবলেম এর সমাধন তাকেই দেয়া হবে। এতে করে সে অনুপ্রাণিত হবে, পরের মেমিস্টারে সে আরো মনোযোগি হবে। যখন সে ড্যাফোডিল থেকে পাশ করে বের হবে হখন তার প্রবলেম হওয়া এসাইনমেন্ট তার হাতেেই তুলে দেয়া হবে। ৪ বছর পর সেই প্রথম কাগজটি তার থাতে পেয়ে সে নিজেই ভাববে তার কত কিছুই না অজানা ছিলো।

Why the students drop the semester:

1.   Unable to bear educational expenses.
2.   Loss of interest to attend the class
3.   Climax of class schedule
4.   Do not pay the installment properly.
5.   Irregular in class attendance
6.   Do not inform the result to their parents

Some steps may be taken to reduce the dropout of the students:

1.   Only the real needy and brilliant students should provide the financial Aid in consultation with their parents to continue the semester.
2.   It is shown that one class is in morning and another one is afternoon. Students are reluctant to attend the afternoon class. so schedule class should be consecutively.
3.   A fast communication cell may be established to solve the problem no. 4-6. The communication cell will be responsible to send the student’s result, payment status, class attendance to their guardians at the end of the every semester.
