Title: 8 Good Reasons of Teamwork.....
Post by: nfeoffice on November 23, 2011, 02:21:33 PM
1.Creates synergy - where the sum is greater than the parts.
2.Supports a more empowered way of working, removing constraints which may prevent someone doing their job properly.
3.Promotes flatter and leaner structures, with less hierarchy.
4.Encourages multi-disciplinary work where teams cut across organizational divides.
5.Fosters flexibility and responsiveness, especially the ability to respond to change.
6.Pleases customers who like working with good teams (sometimes the customer may be part of the team).
7.Promotes the sense of achievement, equity and camaraderie, essential for a motivated workplace.
8.When managed properly, teamwork is a better way to work.

Thanks.

Nature, you wrote -- But the problem is that, some times our group members can not work properly. Then what can we do?

1st of all try to form a group with known persons (if possible) rather randomly selecting members. Consult with all the group members about the assigned topic. Divide the topic into some sub-topics and distribute those among the members according to their interest and capability. Fix a time for collecting a rough format from them. Then, try to find out the possible positive outcomes from the rough format with the help and suggestions from them. If any one fail to do his/her task. Try to motivate him/her for doing his/her task, give some suggestions (if possible). If s/he again fails, try to find out the obstacles behind the failure and try to solve it. If s/he willingly deny to work in the group, cleverly do something to take some extra efforts from him/her regarding the other task of the group work.

It'll be better, for forming a group next time excluding the member/s who were willingly deny or ignore his/her responsibility. Otherwise it may hamper the success rate of the group and can create negative result in some aspects as well.

Effective teamwork certainly does not just happen automatically; it takes a great deal of hard work and compromise. There are a number of factors that must be in place to cohere together as a team and work seamlessly.

• Good leadership: Effective leadership is one of the most important components of good teamwork. The team’s leader should possess the skills to create and maintain a positive working environment and motivate and inspire the team members to take a positive approach to work and be highly committed. An effective team leader will promote a high level of morale and make them feel supported and valued.
• Clear communication: Communication is a vital factor of all interpersonal interaction and especially that of a team. Team members must be able to articulate their feelings, express plans and goals, share ideas and see each other’s viewpoints.
• Establishing roles: It is absolutely necessary for team members to understand what their role on the team is, what he/she is responsible for. The team leader can enable this by defining the purpose in a clear-cut manner in the beginning of the formation of the team.
• Conflict Resolution: Conflicts will arise no matter how well a team functions together. The best way to counter conflict is to have structured methods of conflict resolution. Team members should be able to voice their concerns without fear of offending others. Instead of avoiding conflict issues, a hands-on approach that resolves them quickly is much better. It is often advised that the team leader sit with the conflicting parties and help work out their differences without taking sides and trying to remain objective if possible.
• Set a good example: The team leader must set a good example for good teamwork to come about. In order to keep team members positive and committed and motivated, the team leader herself/himself needs to exhibit these qualities. The team looks to the leader for support and guidance so any negativity on the leader’s part can be disastrous.

I must agree with all of you that team work is very important to achieve some specified objectives or complete any task in a coordinated way. but, it's time to think how many teams are efficient and accumulating their specialized knowledge together while doing some assignments assigned by their superiors. there is very common problem that one or two members are working for the team and rest of the members sleeping. I don't know what to do in that situation? I am in search of the solution for this problem since I am facing the problem from my first semester.
