Post by: tanbir on March 05, 2012, 08:09:15 PM
One of the major trend of present pharmaceutical researches are Novel drug delivery system (NDDS). The main tool of this NDDS is POLYMER
Most of the time we use polymer from commercial supplier. The manufacturers of these polymers promoting their product in different brand name.
e.g. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is a semisynthetic, inert, viscoelastic polymer used as an ophthalmic lubricant, as well as an excipient and controlled-delivery component in oral medicaments, found in a variety of commercial products.
METHOCEL is the brand name of HPMC supplied by DOW chemicals.

They supplied different types and grade of HPMC or Methocel for different purpose. One can select the correct grade if he has proper knowledge of polymer and their grading system.
