Faculty Forum / Re: Blog,Blogger and Blogging
« on: April 28, 2013, 09:47:50 AM »
From a teacher’s point of view, a blog can become a class notice board, an archive of links
and documents or as a collaboration or discussion tool with his/her students. It can also be
used by the students as a learning reflection tool. Blogs encourage students to write and
also to read on a topic they wish to comment on. Bloggers continually search, filter and post
ideas and information which engage higher order thinking skills. As blogs are open to the
world in the same way as websites, it is possible to allow comments from the readers and to
get feedback. Students can use this feedback to improve on their work.
Blogs also make it very easy to embed video, audio or flash movies. It is also possible to
attach word processing, spreadsheets and pdf files into a blog.

BBA Discussion Forum / Re: SPSS-Lecture 02(MERGING)
« on: April 21, 2013, 06:53:22 PM »
There are times in applied research when the necessary information needed for an analysis
resides in two more data sets. The solution to this problem is merging the relevant data sets
together. This can be accomplished in SPSS using the Data menu choice. There are three types
of merging that SPSS can carry out: (1) adding cases; (2) adding variables; and (3) transposing
the data set.
Please check the attached file for details.

Faculty Forum / Blog,Blogger and Blogging
« on: April 18, 2013, 12:38:11 PM »
A blog is a personal website that contains  content organized  like Journal or Diary.

A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web.   The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no  technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.

There is no limit to what may be covered in a blog.

It is common for people to write blogs to describe:
 1. Their work.
 2.Their hobbies.
 3. Social and political issues.
 4. News and current events.
 5. Specific subjects.

02.  The ability to understand research reports.
03.  A basic introduction to using statistical software for data summerization and analysis.

Learning outcomes:

The students will be able to use basic mathmetical skills, incorporating them into various statistical procedures, and will be able to:
Define basic statistical terms.
Describe the four measurement scales.
Construct frequency distributions and represent them graphically.
Define and calculate percentile ranks and percentiles.
Define and calculate the measures of central tendency to include mode, median and mean.
Define and calculate the measures of variability to include the variance and standard deviation.
Explain the basic concepts of probability and discuss the importance of probability in statistics.
Explain the basic concepts of sampling theory to include sampling distributions.
Explain the basic concepts of hypothesis to include the null hypothesis, significance and errors in decisions concerning the null hypothesis.
