11th Batch
Vladimir
Vladmir is one of the two tramps who are waiting for Godot in the play of the same name. He is older than Estragon. He is more stoutly built. He is affectionate and protective towards Estragon. He seems to be more mature and sober in nature than the impulsive and temperamental Estragon. He seems to take waiting more philosophically than his friend. It is he who has conducted negotiations with Godot, and it is to him the messages of Godot are addressed. Vladimir is patient by nature. We find him arguing painstaking with Estragon to convince him that they are waiting for Godot at right time and the right place. Of the two tramps, Vladimir thinks more and therefore, his anguish is intellectual. Hi lives according to the rationalist principle which urges him to be reasonable. Thus Vladimir is the more practical of the two.
