নেপালের কম্পনের মতো ওই রকম ৩২টি কম্পন মিলিয়ে যতটা শক্তিশালী হয়, সেরকমই ভূমিকম্প হবে শিগগিরই।বিশ্বের ভূমিকম্পপ্রবণ অঞ্চলগুলির একটি মানচিত্র তৈরি করেছে মার্কিন জিওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে। বিশেষ করে ওই শক্তিশালী ভূমিকম্পের তীব্রতায় সম্পূর্ণ নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যাওয়া অঞ্চলগুলির মধ্যে রয়েছে ভারতভূমিও। মার্কিন জিওলজিক্যাল সার্ভের রিপোর্ট বলছে, প্রবল ভূমিকম্পপ্রবণ এলাকাগুলির মধ্যে রয়েছে নেপাল, ভারত-সহ দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়ার বিস্তীর্ণ অংশ।
নেপালে খুব শিগগিরই ভূমিকম্প হতে পারে। ফেব্রুয়ারিতেই সতর্ক করেছিল মার্কিন জিওলজিক্যাল সার্ভে। কিন্তু নেপাল সরকার বিষয়টিকে আমল দেয়নি। সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থাও নেয়নি
