South African player Vernon Philander is hoping that his stint with Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League could help him return to the Proteas'' limited-overs setup.

According to Sport24, Philander had made a remarkable entry to Test cricket in 2011, cementing his place as one of the leading bowlers in the much-vaunted Proteas Test attack.

The bowler said that he has obviously not played a lot of white-ball cricket for South Africa and this tournament was a chance for him to step up in the shortest form of the game, adding that he was excited about it.

Philander is currently playing for Kent in the British T20 series and has taken nine wickets in seven games, the report added.
