Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to identify whether OHSAS 18001(Occupational Health and Safety Management System) as an international standard may give benefit to the textile industry. However, there is no elaborate study been taken place in this regard in Bangladesh till now. Therefore, we had to generate primary questionnaire as our pivotal methodology. The tenure of the survey was a month long where we have investigated at least 20 textile mills across Bangladesh. We have tried to find out the comparative health and safety status of the workers in between the factories those are OHSAS certified and non-certified. We have collected precise and pragmatic datas through scientific questionnaire. Our overall research result yields a significant gap between OHSAS certified textile mills and non -certified textile mills. The salient features of the OHSAS certified textile mills are quite effective, efficient and helpful for the workers health and safety. In reverse, non certified textile mills are struggling to render sound health and safety environment towards the workers.
