What to do to improve class participation!

To improve class participation:

We can divide the class into groups according to ability and aptitude---this creates a positive learning atmosphere and helps both weak and bright learners and it makes it easy for the teacher to give weak learners attention;

We should have students participate in group work, especially cooperative learning, in order to develop social and affective skills.

We can plan the participation--give instructions, objectives and time management guidelines at the onset--this saves time and the work is done;

We must give credit (bonus marks) and encouragement for participation in class activities and show our appreciation even if the students' response aren't completely correct;

We even may ask students to contribute materials, topics and ideas for their class--it boosts their confidence;
accept the learners' individual differences--let them work at their own pace;

We should assist while they work ---we should help students having problems;

We can provide general approval and support--tactfully regulate participation when brighter students dominate weaker ones;

We should help the students learn to set realistic goals

We should try to keep them using as much of the target language as is possible for them.

Those who worship the natural elements enter darkness (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). Those who worship sambhuti sink deeper in darkness. [Yajurveda 40:9]; Sambhuti means created things, for example table, chair, idol, etc.
