According to the news, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is set to become the country’s first female Speaker. Awami League Parliamentary Party on Monday night unanimously nominated her for the post of Speaker which fell vacant after speaker Abdul Hamid was sworn in as president on April 24. The ALPB took the decision at a meeting at the conference room of the treasury bench lawmakers at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
