England opener Michael Carberry has hailed Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson as ‘simply world-class’ after Johnson almost single-handedly led to the collapse of the England batting line-up in the second day of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.
Carberry was the top-scorer of the day in the visitors'' innings with 40 in his first Ashes Test. According to Sport24, Carberry hailed Johnson as a world-class performer, saying that in terms of pace, Johnson shares ranks with some of the best fast bowlers that he has ever faced in his time, adding that Johnson put the ball in the right area, which was tough on the England batters.
Carberry further said that in their preparations for the game, they were aware of what Johnson was going to bring, adding that they were not up for the attack as like any good spell, it is always hard to start one’s innings against a bowling unit that have got their tails up.
