New York Times ‘hacked’ by China after Wen billions exposé
« on: November 23, 2013, 11:25:00 PM »
Chinese hackers broke into the computer system of The New York Times in an apparent effort to identify informants who had collaborated with reporters investigating the family of one of the country’s most prominent politicians, the newspaper said yesterday.

In a series of incursions, hackers stole the passwords of every employee at the paper and accessed the computers of 53 members of staff. The main target of the attacks, said to bear the hallmarks of past cyberassaults by the Chinese military on American military contractors, focused on the e-mail accounts of Jim Yardley and the paper’s South Asia bureau chief.
