Scheduled banks in Bangladesh will remain closed for 24 days, apart from their weekly day offs, next year.

Six government holidays coincided with weekly holidays, according to the Bangladesh Bank's calendar, listing holidays for 2014, published on Wednesday.

The first holiday will be on Jan 14 on the occasion of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

It will be followed by the International Mother Language Day, the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Independence Day, Pahela Boishakh, May Day, Buddha Purnima, Shab-e-Barat, Jumatul Bida and Shab-e-Qadr.

Apart from them, the banks will remain closed for one day each on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Aug 15, Janmastami, Bijoya Dasami, Ashura, Victory Day and Christmas Day.

The banks will get two days off on bank holidays.

Banks will be closed for three days each on the occasions of the Eid-ul-Fitr and the Eid-ul-Azha.

The bank employees get two extra days offs in July and December, thanks to the bank holidays.
