Research Design and Methodology
Subjects
This study is conducted with 50 tertiary level students randomly selected from the Department of English of Daffodil International University. All the students possess Bengali as their mother language and are learning English as their foreign language.
Instruments
In order to address and explore the research question, a quantitative method including one questionnaire for the students (see Appendix) is exploited. The questionnaire is consisted of twenty four questions which are divided into four parts such as, academic issue, infrastructure issue, attitude towards students and feelings about the study.
The first fifteen questions are positioned under academic issue. By these questions the researchers want to find out the percentage of satisfaction level of students on the role of the teachers of the department. These questions focus on either the teachers prepare their lesson plan clear or not, either the teachers take quizzes and other examinations properly or not, either the teachers evaluate the examination scripts of the students fairly or not.
The next four questions are positioned under infrastructure issue. By these questions the researchers want to find out the percentage of satisfaction level of students on the services of infrastructures of the department. This part focuses on either the students are happy with the services of classroom, English Language Lab, smart classrooms and coordinator office room or not.
The questions number twenty and twenty one express the attitude towards student by the faculty members and by the non-teaching staff/administration. These question focuses on either the students are happy with the attitude of the faculty members as well as the non-teaching staff/administration or not.
The last three questions convey the feeling of students about their study. These question focuses on either they have received sufficient feedback on their studies or not, either their capability to work in an international working environment has been improved or not etc. It is worth mentioning that the questionnaire contains almost all sectors which are related to the satisfaction of the students.
