Rulled By Technology
« on: September 20, 2010, 12:47:16 AM »
           Imagine if, today there were no cellular phones, no televisions or no computers, no DVDs or no Mp3 players, no batteries or no cars! Forget about the rest of the things technology has given us. Have you ever thought of living without these? From the moment we wake up by the alarm in cellular phones or electric clock and throughout the whole day, we are constantly using machine or accessories. Indeed, we become very much dependent on these. Not because the objects provided by technology is always essential but it's making us feel that it's very important.

            However, as we are becoming more and more dependent on these materials, we are putting our health on perish. Most of us spend quite a bit of time sitting in front of a computer, at a desk or on a chair in front of a television. Moreover, we are using cars more often, which is limiting physical activity like walking. Using elevators and escalators for just a couple of hours is another example. With less physical activities, doctors and experts are alarmed that there are more patients with complex health problems from very young age.

           The excessive use of technological things is also influencing our social lives. Instead of having conversations with friends, we are using cellular phones to talk. It's just the same as meeting them face to face and sharing laughter, facing or seeing their expression for that matter. It happens only for some kind of technological objects. For example, with new cameras in cell phones, we can see friends, we can also see them through web. Also, we are now doing online shopping which is demolishing our social activities. In a way it saves our time but there are additional disadvantages to this way of shopping. No more experience of being in a shopping mall is of course no more interaction with other people. We are just isolating ourselves from others. Young generations are getting much closer to this way of livelihood. No wonder now there are mechanical cats and dogs to play with kids like real pets.

          After all, technology has a lot of benefactors in different spheres of life, but sometimes we cross our limits and become depending on it. We should be more practical and careful in the use of techonology.

i agree
Be gentle and you can be bold but also let people feel, the steadiness of your resentment;
be frugal and you can be liberal;
avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men.
