How to be a popular teacher

I personally know of a very good teacher, who is a former colleague of mine and now is studying MBA in the USA, had been unpopular during his time at DIU, is just because he put pressure on students so that students could learn in the proper and meaningful way and get good jobs after graduation...but they misjudged him. He was an excellent teacher as i saw him always thinking about his students and teaching passionately and checking assignments and answer scripts objectively..
