Before start reinstalling backup your C:/ drive documents.(read my previous post)
insert your XP cd....
restart your PC...
"Press any key to continue...." Press enter (if it's not arrive you will need to set your 1st BOOT as a DVD ROM)
When windows will ask for repair select DON'T REPAIR
then Continue (C)
Select C:/ for installing windows
after selecting drive five option will arrive.
* Format the partition by using the NTFS file system (Quick)
* Format the partition by using the FAT file system (Quick)
* Format the partition by using the NTFS file system
* Format the partition by using the FAT file system
* Leave the current file system intact (no changes)
Select "Format the partition by using the NTFS file system (Quick)"
Select Format (F)
System will format your C:/ drive and windows installation will start....
Now your job is waiting :)
after few minutes later you will asked for LOCATION, TIME, DATE, CD-KEY, ADMINISTRATIVE PASSWORD
give the info and click NEXT...
windows installation will continue....
At the end welcome screen will arrive... provide your your names
Desktop will arrive........... :)
RE-INSTALL COMPLETE

Actually our main objective behind formatting and reinstalling is to make our pc virus free.
yes! your C:/ drive is formatted and you have no active virus now. but don't forget! other drives are may have virus free yet!
if you insert any infected pendrive, or if your open other infected drives (D,E,F) your new windows will infected again.
so best option is... install anti-virus software & update it via DVD. It has 0 chance of infecting your windows.
Scan full PC, Delete virus(if any)
TURN OFF auto play.
Before inserting any PEN DRIVE or MEMORY CARD, SCAN IT, delete virus(if any) then open using right click open or Explore(don't double click)
and update your anti-virus software regularly
That time your reinstalling have value...
otherwise we will format our PC and reinstall AGAIN, AGAIN,, & AGAIN,,,, result will be 0
i told you the process from my previous experience. more then one year i'm not installed winXP cz i'm using Win7. hopefully steps are right. if there is any mistake please let me know.

some customized XP disk will not ask these info.

If you failed to manage Anti-Virus DVD, Download anti-virus software and update it via net.
And if you have no internet access collect anti-virus software and update file from friend and put it into other drive (D) before reinstalling.
Go to D:\ drive without double clicking and install the anti virus software, update it then scan full PC.

go to RUN... type gpedit.msc
You will see the Group Policy window. Select Administrative Templates
You will see an item in the right side pane called “Turn off Autoplayâ€
Double click the item, and set the radio button to Enabled, and change the “Turn off Autoplay on†to All Drives.
APPLY OK...
