Collection and Distribution of Warm Clothes'2010
« on: November 28, 2010, 12:00:53 AM »
In our country, among the total population, 50% people are living under the poverty level. According to UNDP, those who are living under the poverty level, among them 40% people don't have any winter clothes and 30% people have only one cloth each.  Consequently, hundreds of people die every year especially on the North area of our country. Those who die mostly are the poor children and old people. Someone even chooses the path of suicide as he or she can't bear the extreme sufferings. SAME THING IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THIS YEAR!!!

We should do something for the needy people from our sense of responsibility.

We, some of the students of English Department, are going to start collecting winter clothes from the students of our department. Anyone from other department can contribute warm cloth or cash as his or her convenient. We need some students as volunteers. Those who are interested please attend our first meeting on 1st December, 2010 (At 1 pm, Department of English).

Those who worship the natural elements enter darkness (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). Those who worship sambhuti sink deeper in darkness. [Yajurveda 40:9]; Sambhuti means created things, for example table, chair, idol, etc.

Nearly one crore of people in Bangladesh have to starve everyday. Do we have anything to do with that?Helping the poor should not be a seasonal fashion only! It needs a life long serving. Are we doing that???

@ Sameen Sir, You are completely right that helping people shouldn't be a seasonal fashion only. Sir, actually,We are doing what we can do best from our position. If our government takes some proper steps to help them that will be the best, and we'll have to support our government from our own positions. We mustn't forget-We have to work hand in hand to build up a Positive & Poverty free Bangladesh.

For the poverty-stricken people the balmy and comfortably cool days of winter bring no cheer. And this year it will perhaps be no different. Many people live in perpetual misery and want so acute that even our mild winter spells tragedy for them. Deaths from cold wave are not uncommon, since many having no roof over their heads have to sleep in the open. And this is going to be a hard winter for others as well.

When crises are growing, economy is in doldrums, insecurity has gripped the country, a paean for winter may look like escapist distraction, but then a celebration of life and nature is part of our very struggle for existence. Let us welcome the season with guarded optimism.

Lets stay aside of the poor with warm attires,
keep their hope alive
and
retain their smile vivacious.

yes, our students took a positive step in collecting warm clothes or instead money for poor people.....I am proud of our students.....Daffodil alltime says YES with every positive thing...thats our spirit ! If we think that inspite of keeping ourselves covered by blanket & warm clothes,we feel cold & poor people are spending their night in cold streets without clothes, blanket and without cover of house or anything, then we'll be able to understand how miserable this situation is! May Allah make poor people feel less cold!

@ Mirza Farzana Iqbal Madam,

Thank you for your nice comment. I do agree with you. This is a type of work for humanity. Unless we can feel their tremendous sufferings from extreme cold, we won't able to feel what goes on in their life during this season.

I would like to thank everybody for supporting us.
