What could be the impact of this kind of call money rate in banking sectors?
What are the reasons for this historical call money rate in Bangladesh?

We are student of BBA department very much interested to join a bank. We should study and discuss about this unexpected call money rate. This will make us more competitive in job market. This is a biggest loss of banks and shareholders will lose a large amount of profit. We should study how this rate is increase?

I think mismanagement of fund is the main reason. What do you think…….?

First and foremost, if we wanna control this call money rate hike, we should centralize the whole credit system to central bank. But actually this thing is quite difficult and inadequate for this time, to be honest. So, for resolving this dispute, again, central bank should be given the authority in the call money sector.
Now in this sector, if central bank sees that, the rate of call money interest is high, it should detect the banks who are rendering credit at a higher scale 'unnecessarily' and punish them by increasing bank rate of that bank or increase Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio of that bank so that it'd not be able to give credits to its clients. For the affected banks, the central bank should flex bank rate so that they can survive the problem.  Moreover a law should be enforced to margin call money, like- generally bank rate of Bangladesh is 5-7%...

The credit system is not so much in a wholesome situation..............contradiction can be raised, & to demolish the inadequate portion of this system...............so much consecutive efforts must be derived.......

Dear Mr. Rokon:

Call Money Rate:

It is inter banking borrowing rate, when one bank lends another bank for few hours.

Especially banks are borrowing money from one bank to another for one day or for few hours to maintain their liquidity. Last December 19 it was 190%. If any bank lends 100 taka then he will get 290 taka next morning with principal amount.
