 The series of departments that carry out value creating activities to design, produce, market, deliver, and support a firm’s products.
 More broadly we can say The value chain is a tool for identifying and creating more customer value because every firm is a synthesis of primary and support activities performed to design, produce, market, deliver, and support its product.
