A new drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis !
« on: May 07, 2017, 08:33:05 AM »
The amyotrophic lateral sclerosis disease kills nerve cells that control voluntary muscles, so patients gradually weaken and become paralyzed. Most die within three to five years, usually from respiratory failure.

The drug, called Radicava or edaravone for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, was approved on Friday by the Food and Drug Administration. Radicava is only the second drug ever approved to treat A.L.S. The first, riluzole, was approved by the F.D.A. more than 20 years ago.
