Tips For Easy Meditating

Meditation may seem like an unusually daunting task – taking a designated amount of time to simply do nothing. With all that goes on in our lives on a daily basis, I know it can feel difficult to allot some of your precious time to spend on you. However, its vital to look inward, at least for a little bit each day, and center ourselves.  A person who is centered and balance has skin that glows – it’s an inner beauty shining outward!

To begin a meditation regime, you’ll need to start small. Set aside five minutes of your day, make it the same time everyday so you begin to form a schedule, and find a calming place to be. This place may be a corner of your living room that you find peaceful, it may be a park that you enjoy, it could even be your car (as long as you aren’t driving of course!), but this space should be relatively isolated where you won’t be distracted or bothered.

To meditate you don’t need to be sitting or laying down, you might want to stand or stretch a bit, even close your eyes at first if that helps you to transition your focus inward towards your body. This shift in focus from outward to inward is where you should begin, taking deep, calming breaths and really concentrating on the air as it moves from around you, through you, and back out into the world. Once you’ve begun to quiet your mind this way, you can start emptying it of thoughts. It is common for your mind to wander and thoughts of the imminent tasks that need to get done or places you should be… acknowledge your thoughts and let them go, then bring your mind back to your breath and body.

Do not be too hard on yourself at first, meditation takes time and practice but you’ll get better and better at releasing conscious thought as you continue. Once your five minutes (or however long you have devoted) is up, you will notice that your mind is calmer, more aware, and ready to tackle the rest of the day or night ahead.
