Transforming Learning Through Student Research by Patrick Blessinger

Tahsina:
A comprehensive article! But it raises questions about our practice here in Bangladesh. Academia need to include student research activities for different disciplines. For instance, in English Department for the undergrad program we had project work of 6 credits a few years ago. Unfortunately, the kind of work produced by the students was not up to the mark and afterwards, it was changed into 2 courses directed to IELTS preparation for the students, namely Proficiency I and II.

Thus I agree with Aminul Sir in taking this up only after creating a strong framework which will ensure quality research by the students. We also need to consider the number of students for each faculty member to deal with when it will come to research.

Moreover, I want to emphasize on the overlapping research for the disciplines mentioned in the article which shows how scientific research can benefit from humanities or arts, and vice versa.

Well written indeed! Involving students in research definitely will benefit them along with the teachers. This transformation is a demand of 21st century to ensure quality research.
