Small Network between two or more computers

Networking two or more computers together requires a basic understanding of computer hardware and software, but once this process is done, it allows you to share resources between the computers. If you have the right equipment, you can network two computers together in just a few moments, with minimal effort.

Items you will need
•   2 computers with network cards installed
•   A switch
•   2 networking cables (Straight cables)

Step 1
Log in to each computer in succession and verify that they are part of the same workgroup. To do this, right-click on the "My Computer" icon, select the "Computer Name" tab and verify that the "Workgroup" field is the same for both computers. If not, change one of the computers to have the same workgroup as the other by clicking the "Change" button and typing in a new workgroup name.
Step 2
Restart the computer on which you changed the workgroup name--or both, if you changed the name on both of them--so that the settings are applied.
Step 3
Connect a network cable to the network card on each computer and then connect the other ends of the cables to the Switch. Wait a moment for the Switch to assign the two computers IP addresses.(I would be better to use same IP series, like 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3) Once connected to the Switch, the computers are on the same network, and since they both have the same workgroup name, they can each access the other to share files, printers and other services.
